The regular season is finally here. The Seahawks have the steal of the draft, a re hauled receiving unit with free agent stud TJ Houshmandzadah, a healthy Matt Hasselbeck running the show, a new Coaching Staff, and a defensive line that's ready to stuff the run and pressure the QB.
First up: The St Louis Lambs
The Lambs have a banged up Quarterback in Bulger and we may see Kyle Boller, though Bulger did take snaps in practice. They also lack any known quality receivers, but their strength: The run. Steven Jackson is a beast and a premiere back in the league. last year we had his number, and this year we've stuffed 330lbs of Colin Cole and big end Redding into the line to bolster the run defense.
Things to watch:
1-Pass pressure. Can we harass the quarterback all day long and keep him from testing out new secondary that features Ken Lucas, Jordan Babineaux, Josh Wilson and Trufant on the 6 week PUP.
2-The running game.
For the Seahawks the new blocking scheme seemed to be a slow pickup for our running backs in the preseason. Is Jones a legitimate threat for us? Is Edge ready and capable? Will Justin Forsett play bigger than his stature?
Will the Rams have success against our beefed up line and highly touted backers? Jackson is deadly and likely to the be the main weapon they throw at us with a hurting Bulger and bunch of no-name wide outs.
3-Our O-Line.
With Big Walt and Spencer out how does our line look? We certainly need to move the chains on the run, but more importantly we need a healthy Matt Hasselbeck in the fold. Word has Walt coming back next week, but ask the Patriots how many snaps it takes to lose a QB.
4-Aaron Curry- The next LT. He really looked good vs the Raiders, but that was preseason.
Predictions:
I personally think we run over the Rams like a bunch of raging beserkers and the press immediately starts the "most improved team" talk. I also think we give up some long plays and they score some flashy cheap shots. I'm gonna say: 35 to 17 'Hawks.
