I liked the idea of a shooter pairing with Brooke. Not Yi, who I would be amazed if he turned into an NBA caliber PF.
Ryan Anderson looked like he had some potential here. Sure he had some silly fouls, and a few compensating on defense, but isn't he just as young a Brooke? I'm not sure why he wasn't given a chance to improve. His shooting is the real deal, and he is an active rebounder. Plus players drafted at 19, 20, years old don't really show what they can do physically for 2 - 3 years, and he is written as having the work ethic to become a more athletic defender, really the only area he was in question there.
Admittingly, I only watched a hand-full of games last season because the Nets had been so bad going into the year, that I just didn't care for them, but Ryan was a guy I wanted to see when I did watch. I understand that Courtney Lee is a keeper, he is a solid defender, and solid shooter, but what happened to the don't trade big for small rule? A quality 20 year old shooting big man, with versatility, hard working, and FILLS A NEED ON YOUR TEAM, for a dime a dozen 2 guard, (who to be fair seems to stand out to some degree within the dozen), just doesn't make much sense to me.
They need to pursue Bosh, or even Lebron at the 4. If that even works for Lebron. There aren't to many athletic defensive rebounding fours in this league that can be obtained. If our reason for trading Anderson was because they think they can upgrade that position, I just don't know who it is Thorn is looking at going after.
BTW, I just checked Tyson Chandlers status, he has a 12 million player option, he would be a great fit on this team since he runs the floor, and blocks shots pretty much exclusively (has some rebounding ability as well), but why would he opt out of so much money, people know he is limited now. He's not getting more then that anywhere else.
