They opened out the university rec until midnight and had pizzas and gatorade available. Had a blast. Don't remember the last time I had so much fun playing basketball for 5 straight hours.

It's a nice mix Optms, I can tell by the era's guys cling to. Some love talking about when the NBA was on NBC, that lets me know those guys are now about mid 20's by the way I hated that era and coverage on that network. I'm a mid 70's and 80's era fan myself, so yeah I'm past 30's.Optms wrote:Just curious, but what's is the average age around here? (Haven't been here as long as some)
I think there have a few members here above 35 clearly that I've noticed. Just a guess since I've noticed some of you here have talked about the old skool Lakers on these boards and other players associated around that era. For those who've been here long enough to know the community, I could really use an answer or two. Also, I'm not really looking for actual age of members, just an estimate maybe. 20's, 30's, 40's. Thankss.
But you don't have to be in your 30's or 40's to be a student of the game, just research it because we have way too much technology these days.

Re: Community Thread IX
hey guys I got a football question. all this Charger hoopla here in San Diego is dragging me to dark side for the first time in my life, but there are a few things I don't get about it. so please help me out.
ok so I saw a play where a rusher was carrying the ball to his 47th yard when he got hit and hughed and pushed back till about the 40th yard and then body slammed to the floor and landed at the 37th yard, but when they lined up for the next down they lined up at the 47th. what was the point of pushing the guy back 10 yards? shouldn't they have lined up at the 37th?
next question, when a guy is carrying the ball to end zone and he physically does not make it to the end zone because he ran out of bounds, but while he is still in bounds his hand with ball does go pass the little orange cone in the corner is it a touch down?

They count it as forward progress, since it was the tackle that pushed the ball carrier back ten yards and not him actually turning around himself and running backwards.

Yes. The ball crossed the endzone plane. Think geometry.

so on the first play I thought that his knees had to be down on the floor for the tackle to take effect, but if like you said with the forward progress why push him so far back and then body slam him? seems like un-neccessary roughness. it wasn't just the mommentum of the hit that pushed him back it was like 3 or 4 guys from the opposite team that kept pushing him back.
on the second play I guess my confusion was that I thought that the guy with possesion of the ball had to have both feet in the end zone as well. other wise what happens if somebody makes a catch when his whole body is out of bounds and lands out of bounds, but while he is in the air catches the ball and his hands or hand with the ball cross the the endzone plane. is that still a touch down?

OT: Google Wave
Just wondering if anyone else was on Google Wave, trying to see a way to use this for collaboration. Thought could use it for in game comments/threads... it's pretty cool. can see people responding in real time.

Yeah that thing looked pretty tight. Does it take up alot of space on your comp? How where you thinking you could incorporate it. During a game talk or somethin?

I just drowsed off watching the game after taking Nyquil cough syrup for my flu and had a a strange dream that involved Anthony Morrow and something about highest eFG% in the NBA.

I've been playing around w/ it, but sent all my invites out. it's easy to follow threads and replies. kinda fun to see someone type out a response and delete text.

I sure hope not man, I don't even have an insurance. Not much the flu but I feel tired as hell and had terrible hallucinations all night long.
