good one..not. last time i checked people don't really evaluate draft picks their first year. the real evaluations start the 3rd year. so come back with the negative comments in a season or 2. but before you do actually give the guy a chance to play.

Justin Harrell was not picked to contribute in any kind of significant way this year. I thought this was common knowledge amongst Packer nation, I guess not.

I think we'll see more of Harrell as the season progresses. My guess is he'll play even if Cole is healthy.

I like what I've seen from him the past two games. He had some trouble when doubled, but against single blocking he moves extremely well for a DT.

In 3 years Peterson will be an oft injured big name guy while Harrell will be a quiet big time contributer.

Harrell wasn't a bad move. You can never have too many good D-lineman.

A bad move was letting the most talented WR of all time get away. That sucked. And I wonder what it would take for the blind loyalists to accept that fact, given the GM himself has expressed regret with respect to this.

I am not criticizing the pick (not thrilled with it either) but your statement is not true. Harrell was listed as a starting DT next to Pickett comming into camp. That was no fluke as it had to take thought and intention to list him ahead of starter Corey Williams and other vets like Jolly and Cole.

But then he failed his sprints (with Jolly) but never recoverd unlike Jolly.

Harrell may yet contribute big time -but he was expected to help this season.

he was not really expected to do too much this season because of the biceps injury he suffered last season. in the last few games played he has done a good job and i think he will only get better every game. so you saying that about him was not called for because it was unknowledgeable. before you say that about someone give him time to play, and make sure you know stuff about him before you state something. he did not play much in the beginning of the season because he was still recovering from the biceps injury but lately he has been getting more and more playing time and is doing solid. he will be starting next season and will have a great year and it will be the start of a great career.

The emergence of Johnny Jolly was unexpected but also a great thing....proves the drafter has a good eye and allows Harrell time to develop..............its about acquiring talent, who cares about what round the man was drafted, Wolf made a living in rounds 3-7.

What's your blabber about?

I said nothin negative about Harrell. I just said that PAck had Harrell as a starting DT on thier depth chart at start of season. We all know that's true if you were following. So if he was a projected starter they expected something from him this year. That is in contrast with BuckPack's statement that the Pack weren't expecting much from him THIS season.

He may of course still pan out in the future - even yet this year.

So whats the problem?

I look at it this way.

Do I believe that he was looked at to play a fairly big role this season? Yes.

Does he need to now that others have stepped up? No.

Is this bad? No.

Because now he can fully heal and injury that takes time to heal and he can continue to learn and be of help in the future.

If there is a place to have depth it is JH's position.
