Nocioni... an actual rumor this time apparently

STEIN_LINE_HQ

Where do we turn next for our NBA trade chatter now that Stephen Jackson has been moved. We're hearing of a potential new three-way deal

Word is this is an exploratory discussion at the minute, but the key elements would be Nocioni to BOS, Dalembert to SAC, Cap Relief to PHI

Particulars as they stood early Tuesday AM, with Kenny Thomas representing the potential cap relief, found here http://tinyurl.com/ygez4nw

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... ossibility

Sources told ESPN.com that the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings, in considering the feasibility of a Samuel Dalembert-for-Kenny Thomas swap, have discussed expanding that concept with Boston by trying to draw in the Celtics on a potential three-way deal that would land Andres Nocioni with the Celts.

Sources further stressed over the past 48 hours that this should be classified as an ongoing conversation as the teams involved decide how much they like what’s on the table.

But the full deal as it stands, if it eventually gets that far, would send Nocioni to Boston, Kenny Thomas, Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine to Philadelphia and Dalembert and J.R. Giddens to Sacramento.

This would be the best possible trade for Boston and give us brilliant top 10 + Sheldon, Walker,Hudson.

I wonder who we are giving up...?=x

Eddie, Marquis, Nocioni, BBD and/or Shelden, Rasheed..that's a really good bench. We would be 11 deep..and we wouldn't have to see Scalabrine on the court at all! I love it..get it done Danny!

so we get rid of TA,scal and giddens and get nocioni...so we have 2 roster spots available. I think scal will be bought out and return...then we could sign someone at the deadline......

Getting rid of 3 guys who barely see the floor for a guy who will? I like it. Nocioni plays hard and pisses people off too, also I like it. Seems too good to be true though...

This sound too good to be true. However I can see the logic because Nocioni has a rather large contract.
Reggie stood out like a sore thumb no tattoos no agenda no chirping nothing Just a guy who could score at will He played college ball at Northeastern he replaced Larry as Celtics captain he belonged to Boston.
And I still miss him. Even now.

The salary ramifications of this deal are very hard to swallow.

I don't like taking on MLE money for a bad defending, perimeter oriented 3/4. That's money that would be better spent next season locking Daniels into a MLE contract, or resigning Ray and later Perk. It just doesn't make fiscal sense, nor basketball sense. We're already perimeter oriented on the 2nd unit--this deal would make it worse and make our defense worse as well.

Nocioni just isn't that good and he makes too much money.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

The best possible trade if this happens

Scal, Allen, Giddens FOR Nocioni

RONDO/DANIELS
ALLEN/HOUSE
PIERCE/NOCIONI
GARNET/DAVIS/WILLIAMS
PERKINS/WALLACE

+WALKER,HUDSON

11 man deep bench...amazing!!!

Hopefully this comes to fruition. I'm not a huge fan of Nocioni, but for the role the team needs, he's a solid fit. Moreso, I would be happy to have another tradeable asset in a season or two.

I will state that I believe that there is an irrational distain for TA and Scal by some on this board, however.

ryaningf I would not be that worried. 98% of the time these trade rumors are just that. I doubt anything will happen.

You're assuming that by taking on the contract that the team will be unwilling to spend the MLE next offseason? Otherwise, while I concur with your assessment that he will be overpaid for his worth, he has a role that he can fill on the team backing up Pierce and will be a trade chip after next season as an expiring contract. More to the point, I get the sense that there will not be many beneficial trade offers for this bundle of players on another $7mm salaried contributory player.
