His attitude makes me cringe
"Coach, why do I get blamed for everything"
"I'm not going to put any more on my back. Somebody else is going to have to step up and take on the role. Now, who have we got that's going to play defense? We've got me. Who else?"
"Look at me on my moped weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
...ok I made that last one up. Still, the only way I would even consider Ellis to be a possibility is if Rubio was on the squad. Part of it has to do with the fact that Flynn, Ellis, and Jefferson would be pretty small at their respective positions and the other part is that I don't think that lineup would result in good chemistry.
Nelson wanted Ellis to be a leader, made him Captain Ellis got on players in the locker room,in particular telling some of the young guys to learn the plays, telling everyone to get more committed on D, Nellie however...pulled the rug out ,told him be quiet. So...again Monta gets the mixed message and no-win situation as he'd been PG apprentice a couple years, but much of the time Jackson hogged the ball and Ellis got blamed for not getting assist. Hell...he was lucky to get touches.
At GSW the main guys seem to always get dumped on, J Rich, Baron, Dun, Murphy,Harrington,Pietrus, Jackson, Crawford....now Ellis. Guys follow the damn script and they take the rap when the script sucks. It's how Nellie keeps his ass in business. The pawns get sacrificed. Eventually, he uses up the pawns and moves on.
Anyhow...IF (big if...) GSW was smart, they keep Ellis and unload Nelson. In context...nothing Ellis said was anything but telling it as it is. That's rare enough nobody gets it.
