He also doesn't have a true position or skill set.
He is young and will develop but he is all athlete at the moment and less ballplayer.
How can you tell that by the few minutes he has played? All of the other rookies are playing and learning. Our rookies never get to play except sorry azz Dragic (Dude suks!). Let Clark PLAY!!!
I have watched him for a while now going all the way back to his freshman year at Louisville. Earl has always been a little lax in the intensity department. What intrigued scouts were his physical tools. Skill wise he has the makings of a decent mid range jump shot but he cannot create off the bounce unless he is mismatched with a bigger player.
Defensively he has great length but not great strength(yet).
I think on offense he is a Power Forward, but on defense he is a Small Forward. This makes him a tweener without a true position until he develops more.
Amare was very raw when he came into the league, but was blessed with incredible athleticism like Clark has now. What Clark is missing though is desire, heart and intensity. I also don't think he has the same confidence level and will to believe he can be great.
Clark just needs time to settle in and build himself up. He has played some decent minutes for the Suns but with Rolo coming back soon, Collins in the mix and expectations rising with every win, he will need to step up his game if he wants to contribute this year. Match ups will also determine when he will see court time as well. I think he would match up great against Durant for example.
Gentry will give him every opportunity to shine but like Traxxe said he has to earn his chances.
The NBA means No Boys Allowed. He has to become a man now...
