I wonder what the illegitmacy rate is in Japan.

You're using Japan as an example of a shaming culture?

The rate of illegitimate children has got to be low here. I can think of a billion reasons why:

-the rate of legitimate children is low
-Nearly impossible to raise children as a single mother because of economic and cultural factors
-No stigma whatsoever regarding abortion
-The incidence of divorce is low, mainly because of different expectations about what marriage is here (men often live away from the house or don't return at night; cheating is condoned in an almost don't ask don't tell kinda way)

-Shame plays a subtle role in all of the above, though it is separate from them.

probably meant saigon or whatever, which reminds me of a song....

"you are everything, you are everything, you are everything wrong! like all the rubbers busting in saigon. (the low life, you are eveything)

Astonishing! I read this and was reminded of similar stories about how cheap MJ is, bad-tipping etc. Some of these guys have millions yet they won't even tip....fricken disgraceful.

Jungers also claims that Woods was "always tight with money." In addition to refusing her request for help when she needed money, she says he did not tip: "When we'd go out for dinner, he never left a tip or he'd ask for the meal to be complimentary because he was 'Tiger Woods'. I just thought that was cheap and it always embarrassed me."
