Eh it comes and goes, some days I can't hit crap

Shooting is just something that I do to get away, think, relax, loosen up after being on a computer all day... I actually consider myself more of a scorer then a pure shooter. I don't feel like my shot is truly pure because I tend to adjust it too much by how I feel, and by shooting off balance. I have no hops anymore so I had to come up with better ways to get my shot off. Plus empty gym shooting is way different then in games, a bit of contact or defense, even just the adrenaline and tiredness can be way different when you shoot more then you play. When I played more then I shot, it wasn't an issue, but these days I shoot way more then I actually play. Although I try to practice shooting at game speed, so that helps.
Shooting is interesting though, there is a very large mental aspect. I can be streaky because I start to think about the shot too much, start trying to make adjustments instead of just shooting. When I'm more relaxed or in the zone the muscle memory kicks in. There was a guy that wrote a book about it, guy could sink literally 100s of FTs or 3s in a row because he taught himself to let go of the thought process of the shot. His theory is that essentially a shot is far too complex to actually be able to think about it and adjust it properly on your own, angle distance, engery, motion etc. and that if you can truly teach your mind to let go, your subconcious will always shoot it better. I try to do that at times, and when you really find the zone its pretty amazing, but I think too much haha. I dunno, but I find it fascinating. I shoot really high arc with a lot of rotation and I like to see angles and adjust to fading and movement etc. Thats one of the reasons I love watching Kobe so much because it feels like he sees the same thing, how he can adjust arc and angle and whatnot to shoot in any position. Like the Miami game winner, to shoot it high and back to the right a bit to adjust for his lean. So many guyrs would just launch a flat brick or be way off to the left.
Those percentages aren't even that great though, I bet most good NBA shooters can probably hit in the high 70s and 80s even from 3 in empty gym shooting. But I've always felt that if I had shooting coaches, rebounders, played every day, etc that I could get ot that level. Now being able to get a shot off in a game... lol entirely different story Not to mention that even though I'm a good defender, I''d probably make Fish look like he was an elite PG defender
