Anyhow, worst part about this is that the Lakers are also going for Hinrich, which means that the Bulls actually have some leverage with this clown with a clown contract that they should be lucky to even dump in this economy.
And people are talking about TWO draft picks for Hinrich? I don't even want to give up two drops of piss for the guy! Yeah, he looked OK against Pierce in the playoffs, but come on! For $9m a year, I want a better player than Kirk Hinrich, for chrissakes.
He's a backup combo guard! That's the easiest position to fill on a team. Hard to believe that we spent an entire offseason arguing if Rondo was worth a $55m extension vs a $50m extension, and now we want to take on a backup combo guard who has 2.5 years left at $9m a year?!?!
Ughh... guys, it's not so dire that we need to throw in picks for this guy. We have $30m in expiring contracts and teams are DYING to shed payroll right now. This is a great opportunity to set this team up both now and in the future!
Dare to dream!

I think it is a little misleading to say that Hinrich is a backup combo guard, as he could probably start at point guard for half the teams in the NBA, imo. And I think you are using the description "combo guard" a little liberally when talking about how easy of a position it is to fill. If you mean a player that is too short to not be a liability defensively at the two, yet is not a good enough ballhandler/playmaker to be an effective point guard on offense, then, sure, it is a pretty easy position to fill. We have that player on our team right now in Eddie House. However, if by combo guard you mean a player that is a very effective defender at both the one and two, yet can also handle the ball like a point and shoot like a SG, I don't see too many of that type of player around. Yeah, $9 million is a little steep, but he could essentially play starter minutes like he does in Chicago. It would mean a few less minutes for Rondo and Ray Allen, but I don't think anybody sees that as a huge concern.
At the end of the day, I would rather overpay a little (both in contract and in what we give up) for a quality player like Kirk Hinrich than sit back, see what happens, and run the risk of getting a player like Stephon Marbury at the last minute when all the other options have come and gone. However, if history is any indication, that is likely what Ainge will end up doing. Nate Robinson, anyone?

Hinrich is an elite defender at the 2 spot. A PG quality dribbler and passer which would allow us to use Eddie House.

But IMO Hinrich is a prime example of a board overrating a guy just because he plays well against their team.
One of the best things about what Danny has done is that we have great future flexibility without many long-term contracts. You don't mess that up by locking yourself into a BACKUP GUARD making $8-9m a year.
I mean, if the guy's contract were expiring, I might toss this year's pick with some expirings for him, but whatever. But there's a reason Chicago is trying to dump the guy.
