Probably not. I mean the problem really is that all the players the Nets don't want are expirings as it is so the team doesn't really have use for more expiring contracts and while a late first rounder isn't bad in all honesty the chances that the drafted player is significantly better than CDR aren't that great.

Plus, not to obsess over every penny, but the pick will count more against the cap than CDR.

Just wanted you guys to remember this too guys:

No matter what happens in the lottery, we HAVE the 1st pick in the 2nd round. That's basically a 3rd 1st round pick in this year's draft only a non-guaranteed contract. A LOT of teams are going to talk to us about that pick when we're talking about packages we could send other teams for a player. They can nab a guy who dropped out of the first round (this year is fairly deep) for a hell of a lot less. With the cap shrinking, people may even want that more than Dallas's pick.

Thoughts on this trade?

Amare might not work out now..... a few red flags there

But, Iguodala is already signed. I like this guy a lot.

The Sixers want to get rid of some contracts now and are actively shopping him. The Nets and Sixers have made a half dozen trades in the last 15 years. I think we can work something out again.

DO YOU GUYS LIKE THIS?

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5430979

The Nets give up our key expiring but still have just as much money expiring if we stand pat after this. We also give them Dallas' first round pick this year. They grab CDR, Simmons, and a 1st rounder this year.

We grab Iggy.

If we needed to add a 2nd rounder in the next year or two.... then that can be added as well....

Thoughts?

Thata boi JKiddy thata boi. Your trades are slowly approaching respectable. Now this trade is still ridiculously lopsided for the Nets but at least you're thinking about acquiring the right players.

Thanks NetsForce. I think the stress of the past week got to me. Now I am more grounded. Let's say this trade DID include: Simmons expiring contract, CDR, Nets 2010 1st rounder from Dallas, Nets 2011 2nd rounder, and $2 mill cash.

Deal?

Which would you rather have that or just an expiring contract in a most likely about to be injured again T-Mac who you would rent for 3 months for arguably your best player?

that dallas pick, man. it's still got a chance of being a lotto pick. check out the western standings, its real tight there. kidd, terry and dirk have been playing A LOT of minutes for their age. if you look at their wins, so many of them were 1 point wins or OT wins that they pulled out. i just don't see them being able to pull those out down the stretch as the seaosn wears on their team... then again thats just me haha

Check out Netsdaily cause I'm too lazy this morning to post it:

Nets and Grizz are possibly discussing a deal for CDR.

I doubt it's a package of expirings with CDR for Rudy Gay in all honesty.

Just curious what you guys think could go down if anything does.

push for rudy, other than that there's no one on their team we could realistically get that would interest me.
oh and i don't want to trade CDR for just picks.

so for a grizz trade its rudy or bust.

As prelude said I DOUBT its for Rudy...its really simple, we arent getting Rudy in any CDR deal...a 1st round pick maybe...

And like I said, then CDR shouldn't be moved.

Seems like it's just inquiry on Memphis' part right now. If I was a betting man I'd wager all the talk will blow over like it did when Memphis was purportedly interested in Utah's Ronnie Brewer.

There are a few reasons why I might believe this could be true:

1) CDR is a MEMPHIS guy all the way - He was an All-American there
2) CDR was averaging 17ppg in his 2nd year before they took him out of the lineup!
3) He is immature now... but people know that he CAN GROW UP

Let him play. I would keep him. He can become a solid player and be a big part of our team in the future ONE HE STRAIGHTENS HIS HEAD and this team is put together.

I would only move him for Gay or Mayo. They won't move Gasol. We can play Gay or Mayo off of Harris when healthy very well and keep Brook in the post.

If we had not include the Dallas pick I would for one of those guys with CDR and another player of minimal value with an expiring if needed.

I'll take a pick for CDR...moving right along...

1st round pick for CDR = 2 No = 1

I'm going to say no because it's unlikely you get a player better than CDR with that pick... If the Nets draft a wing player THEN go ahead and trade him on draft night, but for now just keep the dude.
