So a couple more hours. Nice.

Considering staying up, but I have a feeling I'm gonna regret staying up for nothing, ie I don't think he's gonna get moved.

Alright, dream is over. :D

The SSOL lineup was a one in a million thing and now that's it;'s really been gone for some time, I'm ay more interested in seeing us develop a team along the lines of out second unit .. who should be partially moved intot he starting lineup

With Nash, Dragic, Rolo, Duds, Amar'e starting, we add some more dirt worker types for the new second unit. There's some good hard-working types who will be easier to add than big names, and likely give more results. I'm hopeful, and I'm really glad Kerr had the nuts to stand pat if he couldn't get a deal he liked.
I'd much rather deal Stat over the summer if that's what we have to do.

Only problem is dealing STAT over the summer depends entirely on if Amare wants to do it. He has to either (a) make the choice to opt in, or (b) agree to a sign-and-trade. But he can completely screw the Suns if he wants -- and the Suns have not done anything to give him a reason NOT to screw them -- and opt out into free agency.

And by doing so, he would be going from a 5/$75+ million deal (if he picks up his option and extends) to a deal in 5/$60 mil range. He also is limited to the Clippers (if they don't sign Lebron - but why would they with Griffin?), Nets (bare cupboard), Knicks (Mike D isn't a fan), Chicago (not big fans and want Bosh more) and maybe Miami (will be at $40 mil with only 4-5 players under contract if they signed Amare and keep Wade).

So, let's say Amare opts out. The Clippers spend their money on different guys (maybe Lebron) since they have Griffin and Amare doesn't fit. The Knicks don't want him and Chicago signs Bosh. Now, he is left with maybe Miami or the Nets - and neither offers him a max deal. What does he do then? His only option is to resign with Phoenix (without his option) or try a sign-and-trade. Declining his option would be extremely stupid and Amare and his agent know this. If he wants out, pick up his option and work on a trade to a contender. Otherwise, pick up the option and sign an extension - those are his only options.

I think what happens is he opts out and goes to Miami. Miami knows he really wants to play there. There won't be much competition. I'm sure he'd still get more money from Miami than Phoenix would ever offer. Yeah, he can get more money if we uses the Suns and their bird rights, but do you seriously think ANY team wants to sign him to a REAL max deal? About the only thing their bird rights will do for them is allow them to offer 6 years instead of 5.

So what have I missed since I checked this thread 12 hours ago?

Is it 100% official that Amare is staying in Phoenix?

The Suns need to either find a trade suitor or re-sign Amare by 3pm today, you CANNOT sleep on this any longer! Boggles me why the Heat would trade us 4 players and a pick for Amare but not Beasley and a pick. Pat Riley must be smoking some rocks, as Haslem is close with Wade. Seems like Miami is trying to run Wade out of town.

that nets deal is seeming better and better after all these weak offers cuz yi is alright, t-will is explosive and would be great with nash's help, and that future pick would most likely be a lotto

CHI has been working hard to clearing more capspace...If they shipped Kirk out, I can see them signing another MAX player, including DWade....

Yup, if Riley wants to get greedy and risk their whole 2010 plan, keep your new franchise player, Beasley, and keep diggin your grave you old bastard. He must really be losing it.

Ha, from ESPN's Marc Stein's twitter:

"Just filed to ESPN.com with @chadfordinsider: Utah and Miami have opened discussions on a possible Carlos Boozer deal before 3 PM deadline"

So now maybe Miami is out, too! Good going, Suns!

Do you really think Wade and Rose could play together. They both need to dominate the ball to be effective.

Amare, Wade, and Rose in Chicago doesn't seem like it has enough touches to go around. Rose and Bosh makes more sense. But Bosh seems like a perfect 5 for D'Antoni's system.

Is Utah seriously gonna tank their season when they are in 3rd place? What is it with the NBA these days!? Boozer, that should be enough to keep Wade happy.....

I think wade is still closer to leaving than staying so the heat is on Riley!. Kerr needs to be smart about this. the cavs deal was crap! the miami deal is better but its a low ball trade. admit it, amare is stayin!

A sign and trade will get us even crappier offers this summer, since teams know that they don't need to give up any assets to obtain Amare; they can just sign him outright.

Hickson, Ilgauskus, 30th pick was not a good offer, but seriously, Hickson and the 30th pick>nothing! Unless we extend him(and the chances of that happening are pretty slim), then we are double screwed when he walks this summer. You can't let him walk. You can't do that. You have to get SOME value for him, or you extend him. Those are your only options.

Wade can finally play coming off of screens again, which he thrives off of. Teams wouldnt know how to contain them both. Plus the pick n roll with Amare and the inside presence of Noah and a solid Luol Deng at the 3. That team would be a force.

Which is why we should extend him now.

I think they for sure will extend Amare before season ends. Steve Kerr and Sarvar is no moron, they know the consequences if we lose Amare for nothing, fan will riot. If they decided to not move Amare, they must be ready to extend him...

Any way the Suns are involved in this? Remember Coro's report?
