BUT, I think if Sarver had the balls he could get a better supporting cast for Nash. Let's face it; Nash still can and will carry us through the playoffs. We just need to fill out the rest of the roster. If you have to sign and trade Ama're to spread out the talent more evenly then do it, but I think it's ridiculous for a team of our caliber to say, well screw it let's just let a premier veteran PG rot in hell as we decide that even though we are a PLAYOFF team, we shouldn't really try to advance in the playoffs.
Can we be a contender with Nash and Amare? Absolutely. But not in this state and not with this management/ownership.
I've always liked the idea of Amare being our guy and building around him. Use Amare the same way Denver uses Melo, he may not be the leader but he's still our franchise guy and he'll still lead us to victory. I'm not sure if Nash can still carry us through the playoffs with this supporting cast, but if he had more help and not have to do *everything*. With our current squad and with no secondary ballhandler/playmaker, Nash will not be able to do everything over a 7 game series. He may be balling for 5-6 games but there's no way he can take us past the 2nd round when he's the only guy who can create for himself, create for his team mates and shoot the clutch shots.
I was OK with letting Nash go in the offseason even though he's my favourite player, I just didn't see any chance we'll be a title contender in the near future and it's unfair to a player like him to rot on a team that's clearly going nowhere quickly.
