Well, considering the 25 years of futility that preceded him, he had relative success here. He took the team to the playoffs four years running, with a poorly balanced roster and poor defense (and, in many ways, lousy coaching). When the Wizards' record last year dramatically reflected these issues, he was booted.

In Philadelphia, he brought nothing to stop the team's decline, and his coaching was possibly the single greatest contributor to that decline, though lack of a PG surely helped. If the 76ers got the 8th seed this year, he'd be there next year. They're lucky that it didn't happen and they get a high draft pick and a shot at a coach that can take them a little farther than EJ could.

The Sixers had a good defense that allowed them to stay competitive in games they shouldn't have been. Eddie did exactly what someone would expect him to do, completely ruin the defensive mindset of his squad. Sixers fans better hope that he hasn't brain washed the squad completely with his BS.

To be fair, EJ got booted much very early in the 08-09 season when the Wizards were out of playoff contention. The Wizards were making the playoffs during most of EJ's tenure.

Looks like he brainwashed one: http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... in_summer/

76ers coach Eddie Jordan will be evaluated at the end of the season, a source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Tuesday that the team was ready to fire Jordan after the season.

Philadelphia general manager Ed Stefanski will also be reviewed

 I love the spin. EJ will be "evaluated", THEN fired.

Or possibly, Sixers management is trying to send Jordan a strong "change or die" message. Not that they (or I, or anyone) necessarily expect him to change, but what do they have to lose with the remainder of the season? Maybe they want to see if he'll respond to a message that he apparently never really got in Washington.

Is anyone glad just knowing that we just had some injury prone players before and that it wasn't our fault or the fault of some curse or something? Antawn Jamison has been having knee problems and Caron butler (http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/ne ... id=4948896) was having problems with his knee earlier. I just wanted to know what other people here think of that. It just makes me feel a bit better about the Wizards... and perhaps we just had some injury prone players, and, maybe it wasn't really even a curse at all.
To do list
==========
1. Fire Ernie Grunfield
2. Get a GM who doesn't screw the fans all the time
3. Beat the Cavaliers in the playoffs
4. Get the no.1 draft pick
5. Get John Wall

Here is the latest blog entry from Caron (credit to Mannhardo for the find), he writes about the circumstances surrounding the trade and some nice notes about his past in Washington. Very classy I think.

Wow, Stevenson is really sucking it up in Dallas.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

That's nice - and dispells the notion that he and Gibert didn't get along.

This is a far cry from the nonsense I used to see posted in response to EJ criticism like.

EJ is terrible. His rotations are terrible. The Wiz win in spite of EJ. EJ is Norv.

Once upon a time I would read.

1- What do you know? Are you a GM? Most GMs think he is great.
2- Inside scoop from a scout says EJ is one of the best in the league.
3- Oh, so your a HC ? You know what is going on in practice ?

Now all we see in response to EJ bashing is...

Cricket...Cricket... or more ...yeah... really...like we didn't know what.

Funny how things change over time.

Or perhaps they were year after year listed as the top 5 players in the league playing the most minutes and they are just road hard and put up wet.

There are only so many minutes in those legs. Players will break down if over played. Good think Dray is all rested up. Like buying a brand new 2007 Vet with only 2000 miles on it for 20K less than list. LOL

Hey! How about that Brendan Haywood? Benched and not happy about it.

Wiretap's tendency to wildly distort stories with a misleading headline really annoys me. Haywood doesn't seem too unhappy to me. All he said was "I just work here", and "I'm not fighting for minutes, we're fighting for a championship."

What do you expect him to say? "It was a pleasure to come off the bench."

BTW, it's worth noting that Dampier was -14 and Haywood was +24.

The wiretap has always been king of sensationalization. Who handles it?

I used to hate Wiretap for this reason. Never read the wiretap breakdown, I always jump to the source. But the MSPaint a Wiretap Thread on the general board cured me of this disdain. I mean come on:
