Several investors contacted this week say they have yet to learn whether they will retain their shares under Jordan’s ownership group. Johnson is believed to have owned 70% to 80% of the franchise at the time of the sale, up from the 65% he possessed in 2004. At that time, Johnson hoped to sell off as much as 49% of the club. Instead, as deficits piled up, minority partners declined to participate in capital calls, and Johnson accrued more and more shares in the team.

From this it appears Jordan has anywhere from 75-90%.

Figure 35% from 300 million? 105 million, leaving him out 195. 80% of 175 is 140 million, so he'd have gotten 245 million from his initial investment which is a 55 million loss. If Johnson also had to cover say 20 million a year in losses on average that's roughly a 175 million negative.

Of course this is all speculation...but man that's a lot of cash.

Speaking publicly for the first time since Jordan agreed to buy control of the team from Bob Johnson, Stern pegged the price at $275 million - $25 million less than Johnson originally agreed to pay for the expansion franchise in 2002.

So much for that $175 mil BS.

You're right about the article because that author argued that the 175 million was "enterprise value" (equity plus net debt), which wouldn't be the case per Stern.

Due to the debt MJ had to take on however I'll bet Johnson still lost his shorts.

Stern said Jordan told him emphatically during a recent meeting that he’ll put in the time and focus to address what ails a team in the bottom third of the NBA in attendance.

"He has a vision of making this back into a community asset,’’

"Without question, that is his plan,’’ Stern said, when asked if Jordan is prepared to spend dramatically more time on the Bobcats. "To do whatever it takes to improve the team as a community asset.

of course actions speak louder than words, but this is at least what we want to hear. i cant wait to see what changes jordan has in store.

Charlotte Bobcats current owner Johnson announced Friday that due to the change in Johnson's majority ownership status of Bobcats Sports and Entertainment, the Charlotte Jumper Classic will no longer take place.

Johnson is selling the Bobcats to Michael Jordan. The equestrian event caused the Bobcats to play their final four games on the road last season.
