Hey, 1st post on the NFL board! Does anybody know what Roy's cap hit would be if the team just cut him? I know that seems to be an extreme move but like alot of you have said he isn't worth anywhere near the type of money he is making. I've said for awhile that he is way overrated.
Did Hamlin play free or strong in Seattle? We would be so much better off signing him to about 1/2 of what Roy makes. With Pat and KD around I think we would be fine if we spent a 3rd or later pick on a safety.

I found this
Contract Information for Roy Williams
8/2/2006: Signed a four-year, $30.1 million contract extension through 2010. The deal included an $11.1 million signing bonus. 2007: $595,000, 2008: $3.72 million, 2009: $4.4 million, 2010: $4.05 million
I suppose that doesnt really help as far as how the bonus is though. Ill keep looking.

I dont doubt it, the only thing is then he likely wouldnt be doing special teams. I guess you can always find another guy to do that but he does it so well. Look at the Bills game he missed, they had huge returns in that game.
Oh and he also has to not keep getting shot.

I wonder if Pat Watkins is growing into that role. Hopefully someday he can be a starter for us but with the way Hamlin has played...I don't know if next year is his year. Maybe Bobby Carpenter could do it, god knows we need to get SOMETHING out of that 1st rounder.Kohl Is A Mome wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Sadly the more i think about it the less realistic an option it becomes that we trade or release roy. As for the offer I wouldnt do that. While Mcfadden would be great to get, we have a couple holes that id rather use those first rounders on. Part of that is that RB isnt really a hole. Getting a second guy to take some carries wouldnt be a bad idea, but im happy with barber as the guy if for some reason we cant find one.
I wonder what the Dolphins would give for Carpenter. Parcells obviously likes the guy, and im sure his value hasnt slipped to complete bust yet.

he just runs straight, he's fast as hell but doesnt know how to use his speed, with miles austin being a good return man and all around special teams player thompson is gone.
the only plays ive seen him succeed at is he can run to the outside and get past the lb's but his vision is mediocre at best
