Roy's not so bad when they play a zone defense but once they go to single coverage he becomes useless. I don't know why he gives his man so much space. Tries too hard for that big hit I think.

Hey, 1st post on the NFL board! Does anybody know what Roy's cap hit would be if the team just cut him? I know that seems to be an extreme move but like alot of you have said he isn't worth anywhere near the type of money he is making. I've said for awhile that he is way overrated.

Did Hamlin play free or strong in Seattle? We would be so much better off signing him to about 1/2 of what Roy makes. With Pat and KD around I think we would be fine if we spent a 3rd or later pick on a safety.

Roy signed 5 yr, 25.5 mm contract with 11 mm guaranteed. The difference is when the guarantees are. IF they are early, then the buyout or cap hit would be early. This newer trend makes determining this type of situation difficult

I found this
Contract Information for Roy Williams

8/2/2006: Signed a four-year, $30.1 million contract extension through 2010. The deal included an $11.1 million signing bonus. 2007: $595,000, 2008: $3.72 million, 2009: $4.4 million, 2010: $4.05 million

I suppose that doesnt really help as far as how the bonus is though. Ill keep looking.

Some guy claims it would be 6.6 mil cap penalty if we cut him. If we do it after June 1st it would be 2.2 next year and 4.4 the year after.

But as you can see we still owe him 12 million something for 3 years so it would save a bunch of money.

Does anybody doubt that KD could do a solid job replacing Roy?

I dont doubt it, the only thing is then he likely wouldnt be doing special teams. I guess you can always find another guy to do that but he does it so well. Look at the Bills game he missed, they had huge returns in that game.

Oh and he also has to not keep getting shot.

I wonder if Pat Watkins is growing into that role. Hopefully someday he can be a starter for us but with the way Hamlin has played...I don't know if next year is his year. Maybe Bobby Carpenter could do it, god knows we need to get SOMETHING out of that 1st rounder.

Whatever, Roy Williams plays special teams on my Madden game. Lets put him on our kick off squad and see if he can actually do something good

Turns out there IS in fact a reason for the sale on the Jerseys.

Roy is switching to 38 next season. (Maybe that will help his effort on coverage?)

I see you guys are not very happpy with roy right now. What about a fourth Round pick for Roy? Or trade us your 2 first round picks and 4 round next year and roy williams for Dolphins First overall pick and you get ur mcfadden?

Sadly the more i think about it the less realistic an option it becomes that we trade or release roy. As for the offer I wouldnt do that. While Mcfadden would be great to get, we have a couple holes that id rather use those first rounders on. Part of that is that RB isnt really a hole. Getting a second guy to take some carries wouldnt be a bad idea, but im happy with barber as the guy if for some reason we cant find one.

I wonder what the Dolphins would give for Carpenter. Parcells obviously likes the guy, and im sure his value hasnt slipped to complete bust yet.

I was wondering if Tyson Thompson could be the back up RB as a change of pace guy. Any thoughts?

he just runs straight, he's fast as hell but doesnt know how to use his speed, with miles austin being a good return man and all around special teams player thompson is gone.

the only plays ive seen him succeed at is he can run to the outside and get past the lb's but his vision is mediocre at best
