Monday, April 26 Rogers Centre | 7:10 PM ET
BOS Josh Beckett, RHP (1-0, 5.26 @ TOR Dana Eveland, LHP (2-0, 1.93)

Red Sox: Beckett, who has a career record of 107-68, hasn't settled into a consistent groove yet. In his last start, he gave up seven earned runs over seven innings, walking five and striking out four. He threw 114 pitches. In 25 2/3 innings, Beckett has 17 strikeouts and 10 walks. Opponents are hitting .283 against Beckett thus far. Beckett has had his share of struggles against the Blue Jays, going 3-5 with a 6.62. In five starts at Toronto, he is 1-2 with a 7.76 ERA. Beckett is a 50-37 career pitcher on the road with a 3.70 ERA.

Blue Jays: Eveland turned in another impressive showing in his last start, surrendering only one extra-base hit in the Jays' 4-3 win over the Royals last Tuesday. The 26-year-old left-hander allowed eight hits and three runs (two earned) with two walks and three strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings of a no-decision. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound southpaw has yielded just four earned runs over 18 2/3 innings in the month of April, which translates to an impressive 1.93 ERA. Eveland is 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA in three starts (two while with Oakland) against the Rays since coming over to the American League in 2007.

Tuesday, April 27 Rogers Centre | 7:07 PM ET
BOS Clay Buchholz, RHP (1-2, 2.70) @ TOR To be announced

Red Sox: Buchholz is coming off what was easily his best start of the season, albeit in a loss to the Rangers. The righty started the night with six shutout innings, but gave up three runs in the seventh. Over 6 2/3 innings, he allowed six hits and three runs while striking out a career-high 10. This will be Buchholz's first start of the season against the Blue Jays, a team he thrived against last year, going 3-1 with a 3.60 ERA. Buchholz was particularly impressive in his two starts at Rogers Centre, going 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA. Opponents are hitting .265 against Buchholz in his career.

Here's hoping we don't suck. Beckett is probably our best chance, but knowing us, he'll dominate and get back on track. Buchholz will be interesting.

Actually, after David Price embarrassed the hell out of us, I think in particular Adam Lind might have a good game against Beckett in the opener. Lind stank to high heaven, K'g 3 times. Vernon, at least the Vernon of this season so far, is due for a good game as well. Beckett's got all kinds of command problems this year, so maybe we'll jump on him.

I want the Jays to steal 10-15 bases in the series.

The Red Sox have only thrown out 1 base runner all year.

they have also been run on the most.

If I see you saying anything so ridiculous again, there is going to be trouble. As in me mocking you mercilessly on this board.

definately, Cito's gotta be crazy for even thinking about using one of the best relievers in the game right now.

I wouldn't mind seeing Downs, if only because he needs to be shown that a couple of early bad outings don't define a season... He's still a good pitcher. And really, I should say the same of Frasor... though he's just come out and failed in pretty much every outing so far, he should keep coming out and failing until we're satisfied that there's something specifically wrong with him.

Frasor's baBIP is .527 right now. He's had control issues and is walking a LOT of guys right now (he's at something absurd like 11 K/9 and 8 BB/9) but his FIP is 4.76 and you know that if he can get himself together, his ERA and that baBIP are going to eventually come down. His fastball velocity is down like 2 mph, too, which isn't helping him. He's throwing about as many strikes as usual, similar contact percentage, similar 1st strike percentage... more liners and fly balls, though.

nice gun down by snider, home team call though. 1 run was probably the best we could have hoped for in that situation, now lets pound Beckett like we have in the past
