I agree that it will be a long drawn out process. We'll prob just match the offer of another team. Players always think they deserve too much. I like scola but not at the expense of eliminating the chance of us getting a player that CAN help us win a championship in the future. If another team offers him mad money, I wouldn't mind running with Hill at the 4 spot for a couple of seasons. Especially with the way Morey and our staff finds talent, there's no reason to give him more than the MLE.

Great to hear but who honestly thought they'd let him walk?

Scola will get more than MLE money. my estimate: 25M/3 years or more.

28,5/4yr Sounds reasonable with incentives :) but knowing the market someone will offer him 30mil or something for 3yr.

So Brooks/Battier/Jeffries picks for Paul (pipedream in itself), but what's left to trade for Gortat then?
Camby at MLE is more realistic, although very much up in the air he'd sign for that and he could probably sign anywhere for MLE.

i believe Scola will be looking at Ariza-level kind of deal.
it must be noted that with a decreasing cap-level, Scola cannot ask for the sky too.
Manu just got lucky with his 40m 3 yr deal. Seriously, with his kind of injury history and age, i will not give him that. I thought it was a bad piece of business for SA since it would restrict their options.

And i agree with some u all that Scola is not on the young side. While Scola is valuable to the rockets, i don't think we will break the bank for him. 3 years 27m deal for him. That would be my final offer. nothing more.

let's not forget there is Lowry we NEED to resign.
Lowry i believe will be looking at 4m+ per year.
Since he is young, i believe the rockets should lock him down for a long period.

I think Scolas contract should be incentive based, have his base contract be 7 mil a year, +1.mil if he plays 75+ games, +.5mil if we make the playoffs and +1mil if he makes the all-star team for a total of 9.5 mil/year, but 8.5 is the more realistic scenario.

Lowry should get 3 mil a year, but I'm afraid some team might throw more money at him and we'll be forced to match.

Teams that NEED a PG:
Knicks - if they land a max FA, they can't afford him

Teams that COULD use a PG:
Heat - below average starting PG, but fits better with Wade and is on a rookie contract
Kings - less and less likely with Udrih's play as of late
76ers - though they have a promising rookie in Holiday
Raptors - that would be a lot of money invested in their PG depth
Wizards - Arenas insurance?
T-Wolves - we know how much they love PGs
Lakers - Fisher is on the decline but they also have Farmer and Brown

He'll definitely get a larger deal than the one Ariza got. I mean, he's averaging 16/9 on 51% from the floor. And since the all-star break, he's been doing 19/9 on 52%, (21/10.5 in April). Other players to do at least 15/8 on 50% are Bynum, Smith, Lopez, Amare, Bogut, Duncan, Bosh, Gasol, Boozer, Lee, and Howard. I mean, that's a considerable amount of players, but all of them are considered the best big man in the game.

I think something around 8-9M starting would be reasonable. He hustles, he can rebound, is very skilled in the post, but a potent mid-range shooter that's essentially capable of playing next to any player because of that skill-set. Is he worth that much at this age? I'm not sure, I think his play is worth it, but with the market value likely to be inflated when teams miss out on LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and the rest, they might tend to look elsewhere.

I think we should try our best to retain him. Unless someone throws 10+ mil for like 5 seasons, of course.

IMO we'd probably have to overpay him a little bit to retain him, with all the teams having space and all. I think the best way to go would be to give him a Ginoboli-esque contract, overpay him yearly while having fewer years. Though it's not likely that Scola's health will be a concern anytime soon. He has 0 athleticism to begin with, and the way he plays, he's not likely to receive serious injuries.

I think that we can accept up to 10 million per year and up to four years. More than that will be overpaying too much.

I'm sticking with no more than 4 years, no higher average annual payment than 10m

Ideal is 7.5-8.5 over 3. (as if the ideal case usually gets to happen)
Expected is 9 over 3 with a team or player option.

I still think that he will end up getting about $8 mil. Like Landry a few years ago, his RFA status will keep his wage artificially low.

Bargs is overpaid like a mofo, and LMA isn't much better. Neither of them deserved their deals, for sure, ESPECIALLY not Bargnani. It's not our fault that Toronto's GM didn't know what he was doing (though it may cause us problems).

He's going to get at least $10 million since alot of teams have cap room, and some top free agents like ginobili, amare are already resigned.
