So does 'the right direction' necessarily mean playoffs/wins? I mean is that totally ruling out rebuilding? Because I think Ed Stef could 'get this team on track' and still have a losing season next year, but would result in some serious wins in the future.
If it is a 'win now' type of proposition, then I can agree with no newer type coaches wanting to come here, because it is setting them up to fail.
Of course if Dileo is heavily involved in picking the coach, then maybe the coach has a chance of lasting past Ed, since Dileo's probably next.
The more and more i think about this situation, it just screams rebuild. Get a 'good retread' coach (which ever doesn't get the job he actually wants), then get a choice of overpaying for 2nd rate old talent to compile a veteran team who can maybe squeek into the playoffs just to try to save big Ed's job.
