I think the incident is less likely to affect players.

As far as VDN not listening to the medical staff, our players had the chance to go silent on their support of Vinny (due to him 'risking' Noah's health for 2 extra minutes) but they did the opposite, and stood up and supported him.

Noah himself had prior to that game, talked several times about the frustration of not being able to be out there longer. So I don't think he was angry at Vinny over it, probably the opposite.

Noah isn't part of the medical staff, that's great he wanted to play, but what difference does it make? Are you suggesting the Bulls not listen to medical advice if the player is frustrated?

I find that very hard to believe. In fact much harder to believe than the opposite, that its more likely to be a negative. I don't think any coach would find it a positive that the VP might come down to his office after a tough game and get into a altercation with him.

I think JVG was right to say that his comments on the incident were obvious ones, that would be mirrored by many coaches around the league.

*Now* you care about what is more likely?

*Now*?

It's more likely that it won't matter, since we care now about more likely.

No. This was the question.

of course he wasn't angry, that's a competitors nature. All true competitors want to be out there on the floor. How many quotes came out about Grant Hill during the series that he shouldn't have played in? In the end I really don't see this as a huge deal one way or another, it's a highly competitive industry and **** happens. Pax screwed up, it's been said he wanted to address it earlier but was advised not to. He came out said the right things and they moved on. JVG made some comments about it, oh well. Usually that's what the coaching fraternity does, VDN is a likable guy and the Bulls have been an easy target for all the experts for the entire season...what's one more thing to throw at them.

It would suck though if we don't consider JVG over it. He's not my top choice, but he is for a lot of people and he does seem like one of the top credentialed candidates out there.

It isn't like he sought out a media outlet to comment on it. It was part of his job as an Analyst for TNT and tiegate was the subject at hand.

I agree it would suck if we didn't consider JVG over his comments, but as of now he hasn't been given an interview or been passed over for an interview. I'd like to see how things play out before my mind is made up on they manage their coaching search. As of right now I really don't think they need to do anymore damage control....other than showing a well run coaching search/hire.

I heard the side of the story the Bulls and Paxson supported at the PC.

No you didn't. You heard an apology from Pax for his involvement in the issue. You heard no details. We've been over this.

Rerisen wrote:I've said many times I don't care if Vinny shared blame or not, because its not relevant to the perception of the event that has been created.

But you don't know what the perception is since it's been addressed.

Rerisen wrote:Sure we do. Van Gundy discussed the incident post-apology and still echoed the same opinions he originally voiced.

We went over this and in that same interview he voiced a number of positives about the organization. You dismiss those because they don't support your argument.

Rerisen wrote:Perception is Jeff Van Gundy may not be considered for the job because of his comments. Evidence for? Jeff Van Gundy’s own comments!

That's not relevant to this conversation and may not even be true.

Rerisen wrote:I don’t know how much more I can do, maybe put flashing arrows pointing to his words? If you refuse to see the obvious possibility that Jeff just alluded to, and very well seems to think is the reason he wouldn’t be considered.

No need, since none of this is relevant to our discussion. It has nothing to do with the altercation or the general perception of the organization.

Rerisen wrote:I just told you my central point. There you go putting words in my mouth again.

I'm going over the history of the conversation. Just because you now say your central point is that there's a possibility this could be bad, doesn't dismiss all that went on before in this thread.

Rerisen wrote:If Paxson were to be fired, I think there is far less chance the incident would have a chance to hurt the organizations reputation going forward. That's is called making an observation.

A bad one and one I disagree with.

Rerisen wrote:I did read that part and I'm fine with it being main place we differ. Unfortunately I have to clear up all these other misconceptions you keep alluding to.

I'm not alluding to anything. I'm pointing out the positions you've taken in this thread.

Rerisen wrote:You are 'winning' having an opinion?

Yeah, lol. Or to be more exact, I'm doing a better job of supporting my position or as it it known in this part of the world, winning the argument.

My mind isn't made up either. Depends who they hire. If they hired JVG it would actually look pretty high minded, considering what he said.

You're doing nothing but dismissing anything that doesn't support your argument and saying over and over "And I disagree with that". Then patting your own self on the back. Yeah great support. Calling an apple an orange doesn't make it so.

Then why are you spending 20 pages doing just that when it's obvious an apple is not an orange. I'm not the one continually raising the same bad arguments and pretending that they weren't addressed. That's you, pal. If you got something new to add to the discussion -- a new angle, anything -- let's hear it. If not, why persist as if I have no memory of what you've said previously. And if your entire argument is it's possible that this situation will look bad to someone, fine; I addressed that.

Professor Frink wrote:How about this: I find it unlikely. Satisfied? Is that enough for you to feel vindicated. I think your position, while possible, seems unlikely. Got it?

You got your bottle. Now what do you want? To be burped? Read a story? Tell me.

Yeah, that's because the Bulls front office said it was dead and you can't trust anything they say.

Black taco.

But seriously that taco *could* give you food poison, so no more eating. It's possible. Ya huh.

Tech told me the new guy will definitely have past NBA coaching experience for those all up into the just retired player stuff.

Return to Chicago Bulls
