Still, Washington's got the higher potential.
You don't hear much talk about Noah's potential or how good he'll be if he ever gets it. Most people (myself included) take him to be more or less following a predicted trajectory. McGee's potential has, on the other hand, dominated discussions about him, if he would learn rotations at both ends, learn to pass the ball, learn to stay in front of his man, learn to do something other than block or alley opp. It's surprising then how much closer statistically McGee and Noah look, with Noah clearly the better defender and rebounder, and passer, McGee the better scorer (he has a weapon) and shot blocker. McGee has a higher PER in his first season, second season, and for his career.
I'd trade McGee for Noah right now (easily), but not a billion McGees. By the end of next year, maybe I wouldn't trade one. McGee may never realize his potential, but he still has potential. A lot of it. Other teams are waiting for DC to give up on him, depressing in his value and making him a bargain to scoop up.
PS: WALL!!!!! Forget LeBJ. Go after a player w/ that's a winner. His short sale, value-added, mezzanine tier, speculative depression model universe is just too messy to project into anything but shoe sales. He's a complicated man, but no one understands him but his agent...
