Um. I like Curry, the only problem I see is the sixth pick. Who could we get there? I like Monroe's game, but I don't think he's going to end up being a power forward for long in this league. I don't know if I would do that deal. It would help in the quest for Lebron, though, because I'm pretty sure they're BFFs.

That's not worth it to the Nets. With us having the 3rd pick, I don't see ANYONE available at 8 that I would trade Twill and a future 1st for. That would be an absolute steal for you.

My advice to you is trade up a few spots and take Aminou. He'll be solid on the Warriors.

Warrior already have 2 guys similar to Aminu. Nets are the ones that need to trade down and grab him. Check out his measurements too.

^^^^ Be it as it may, that is too rich for my blood. Unless we are sold on Greg Monroe going to be the glue for our franchise, there is no reason to trade Twill or give up an asset like the GSW pick.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ortCat=nba

Still, allow me two making-a-splash predictions for this summer. The first: MRMC pounces on Phil Jackson with an absolutely unfathomable offer. How unfathomable? Five years, $85 million. Yeah. That's what I mean. Prokhorov is already on record as saying that he wants an NBA coach. Why not overpay to get one of the greatest ever? How could the Lakers possibly come close to matching that commitment? And why would Jackson say no to finishing his career in the New York area for the most lucrative coaching deal ever BY FAR? I say the Godfather offer gets made, and I say Jackson takes it.

Second, instead of chewing up Jersey's cap space with overpaid free agents, I bet Prokhorov trades for Andrei Kirilenko -- his former CSKA star, as well as an expiring 2011 contract of $17.82 million -- in a deal that won't cost Jersey anything because Utah (struggling to find money for Carlos Boozer) could easily replace Kirilenko with its lottery pick (No. 8 overall) and a second trade. For the Nets, even if they just rented Kirilenko and picked Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors (the draft's best power forward) at No. 3, that's an intriguing short-term front line (Favors, Kirilenko and Brook Lopez) and they'd maintain flexibility for a run at Carmelo in 2011 and/or have Kirilenko's expiring deal to shop this February. And it would go over big back home for Prokhorov. Win, win and win.

I'm glad Bill Simmons has agreed with me on the likely hood and common sense of AK47. I know some people talked about his at the deadline, but this is a deal you make this summer, not during the season. I've stated the same reasons Bill says as well. The only downside is this takes us out of the running for any decent free agent PF so I think we should be giving Utah some other incentives to give us #8 as well.

I tell you, every day that goes by, I'm more and more excited about the Kirilenko idea that both you and Demens, and now Bill Simmons, has thrown out. It makes a lot of sense.

I'm telling you, that and getting 1 of the 2 late picks (shooters) to contribute and adding just 1 shooter FA and this team will be plenty competitive. Some fairly cheap alternatives. You might consider some of these guys scrubs, but we're not looking for anyone to play more then 20 minutes a game.

I don't mind it, but I want the 9th overall pick for absorbing him. Yes he's a very solid player, but he's incredibly injury prone and enormously overpaid. You don't just absorb contracts like that for no incentive in today's NBA, it's that simple.
I'd do Courtney Lee and maybe CDR and pure cap space for AK47 and the 9th.
I dont know if Utah can pass that up if they are really serious about keeping Boozer, resigning Korver and Fesenko and matching offers for Wesley Matthews.
They get a really solid two guard on a rookie deal and a one year look at CDR, along with the other obvious monetary incentive to do the deal. I mean after the Knicks/Rockets deal, it almost looks like an overpay sending out Lee, even if he is just an OK player, but I would still do it as long as my guy is there at 9, although knowing Thorn, he'd blow the pick and pass on who I'm thinking of...

Agreed. Who you thinking about at the 9 slot? Front court depth or a wing?

I honestly can't say at this moment. I'm in that T&T's Board mock draft and I'm likely doing the Devin Harris for Ford and 10th pick deal to draft him, I don't want to tip my hand in case any of these guys are reading through this thread. Damn paranoia, lol. I'll be able to tell you guys soon enough though, it's already on the 8th pick and it's moving pretty fast...

On topic though, I know this is going to sound a little crazy to some, but do you think sending Courtney Lee in that deal is actually an overpay?
I mean look at what the Knicks just had to send to clear Jeffries at about 7 million a year. I mean I understand Jefferies is semi-worthless and the Knicks were in a tough spot, but AK makes almost 18 million dollars next year, and it's almost a given he'll miss 10 games minimum.

I think Lee would be overpaying, yes, but not a lesser asset like CDR or even a second round pick or something.

CDR, 27th, 31st, Yi and a ginormous TPE for AK47 and the 9th?
I still think it's almost an overpay on paper in a sense, but it sure wouldn't bother me.
CDR and Yi are not true assets by any stretch of the imagination, unless you're talking about adding them to the 27th and/or 31st to move up to maybe the mid to late teens anyway, so I would be fine with it if that's the route we're looking to go, build through the draft and hope for Melo and/or Horford.

I think I'd have to do that trade, and in a dream world, we'd be able to select who the ninth pick is used on, and if my guy is still there, I'd drive CDR to the bus stop myself.

I think Chris Paul has become a pipe dream now that they have been sold.
