I mean, WTF!? A draft pick & possibly
a player that wont really help much.

WE NEED PLAYERS TO GET US OVER THE HUMP!!
Anything else is a waste.

Not necessarily. He has a valuable expiring contract and he's older than our core, I think those are the main reason why he's on the block.

BballFanAddict wrote:Unless you got a PG coming in better than Miller I don't see any reason to trade him for the 10th pick. Indiana does it as a stop-gap then an expiring is why they'd be interested. That and I believe the relationship with Ford has been on and off with Indiana's FO.

More off than on it seems.

cucad8 wrote:You're right, sorry. Forgot to add the 100,000 to the 125%. I suppose the "benefit" of a deal like that, as part of a bigger deal is, Miller could bring back slightly over 8.5, whereas Ford can bring back 10.7. Maybe you then include HIM to N.O., with the 10, and add in Julian Wright as well? Haha. I need to drop the Paul thought.

Ya, I'm not too optimistic about getting Paul, but that's the only way in which downgrading from Miller to Ford makes sense. They have to be 110% sure that this move guarantees them a quality PG. Because if they make that move for the #10 pick but end up stuck with TJ Ford as their starting PG for next season...... Ugh.

EDIT: Oh wait, there's a 3 month moratorium on re-trading recently traded for players. That means we couldn't combine Ford with Prybilla and young guys until late September. That's no good.

I think before that moratorium, there's a 24 hour window where you CAN package them. So we'd have to have an immediate follow up move.

I'm not a big Miller fan but I would hope we would get something good for a Miller/Ford swap. Ford can't shoot just like Miller but at least Miller has a real feel for the game and BBIQ. The #10 would do it for me. Hopefully that #10 could be used as part of a bigger trade.

Is Ford expiring, as well?

True, but is there really any likelihood of a Paul deal within the next 24 hours? If the Blazers did the Indy deal and were able to get the Raptors lottery pick with a separate trade, I suppose that could entice the Hornets a little more.....

Ford
Pryzbilla
Batum
Bayless
#10 Pick
#13 Pick

for

Paul
Bad Contract

If that doesn't get Paul, nothing would imo. The Hornets would save more money and be getting 2 additional lottery picks along with 2 really good proven young players.

So I suppose if the Blazers knew that this could get us Paul in the next 24 hours, then do the Miller deal. Otherwise, I'd pass.

Agreed. I doubt there is a deal for him in 24 hour, and if not, or a deal for Parker or another top PG, I see no reason to move Miller for Ford, just to get the #10 pick.

Someone off topic, apparently Bosh has said that going to team with a great head coach is an important thing for him. While the opinion of McMillan may be pretty low around here for the most part, he's incredibly well respected by players and other people within the NBA. So he could actually be a plus for us potentially having a shot at Bosh.

Maybe that is really what they are trying to do. Get in the top 10 so hey can select a PF to replace LMA. Then trade LMA for Parker.

Can someone explain why in god's name New Orleans would want to do this?

Here's the latest "news" from Chad Ford.

Mark (PDX)

Any idea what's up with the Blazers? Are they making a big trade? Will KP still be the GM in 24 hours? Will Fernandez still be a Blazer in 6 hours?

Chad Ford

KP is trying. Love him. The guy is not going down without a fight. He's trying to move up, get a veteran, you name it. Looks like the Fernandez to the Raptors deal has cooled. As for Pritchard's future, let's just say his bags are packed.

it would be a tall order to explain that for sure...maybe if Isiah Thomas was the Hornets GM that would have a shot

in the other thread, TBPup said that the Portland offer was something like:

Aldridge + Batum + Pazybilla + Miller + picks for Paul + Okafor

And New Orleans turned that down. I doubt they even seriously considered it if it's true. The Blazers would have to add more and about all they could do would be to add Oden to the package something like:

Oden + Aldridge + Batum + Miller + Przybilla + Picks for Paul + Okafor + Peterson

Maybe then New Orleans would bite...but so what?

where would that leave the Blazers? they'd have a great backcourt, at least the starters would be great. But Portland would have very little up front. They would be a worse team then they are now, but at least Chris Paul would finally be a Blazer! That is he'd be one till he left after 2 seasons so he would have a chance to play for a contender

No, Aldridge would not be going too. If they don't like the above minus Aldridge, then it is time to give up.

and why would N.O go for it with just the gimpy Oden as the headliner?

I'm just going off with TBPup said. it was that the Hornets had turned down a deal that included Aldridge, Batum, Miller, & Pazybilla

They would need more, perhaps significantly more

I think it's simple math: the Blazers don't have sufficient talent on their roster to trade for a player like Paul and still leave enough talent remaining to be a viable playoff team

It really is a shame that we didn't pick Paul when we had the chance. Was it KP who passed on Paul, or was he the one advocating for him?

In other news, excited for today. It feels like KP has targeted his player and so far he has had pretty good luck with his targets. Whatever we do the Blazers will have a new player by the end of today..

No, the moron John Nash did because he though Telfair was going to be a superstar. KP wanted Paul.

And I just can't get to excited for new Blazers if they are just young guys picked from the draft. We don't need youth anymore...

TSE, the second word in your name is why we do not have Paul currently. :(
