My bad then, sorry REV. He was quoted on another board that it was on draft night. I guess I should've found his original quote on here instead of relying on another poster to quote him.

I just don't think it was there in the draft in general ... outside of the top picks, Wes was the best way for us to go and we'll be happy with him.

I am happy with Johnson @ 4.

I am less than happy and not too excited about the rest! I just hope one of these later picks is a sleeping giant.

It's also important to remember that any player drafted outside the lottery (and a ton of them within it) are total misses. There's no guarantee that #16 is a good player, much less #23. So trading down from #23 to pick up the final pick of the first (who, from the sound of it, has limited upside but can at least be a rotation player--about all you can expect from picking that late) and a 2nd rounder high enough to get the highest valued Euro who can develop overseas for awhile--is a great move.

I went back and forth on the #16 trade, and while I think we might have been able to get a bit more for Gomes contract, there's no doubt that Webster is a better fit and a better player than both Babbit and Gomes right now. Who know, Babbit might develop into a killer, but we needed more D, and we got it.

It's not a thrilling draft, but it's a good one that will help this team, and I don't know that a thrilling draft was possible without trading up from #16, which sounds like it wasn't a real option.

Just my $0.02 (after having the same initial reaction as many of you).

1.) You need to stop the Euro stiff stuff. you are making yourself sound foolish. The Euro is a real prospect as a playmaking SF. We have 2 of the best euro minds on our team and this is one area we should feel confident.

2.) Webster is a good fit. He would have fit great here last year and is a remarkable upgrade from Wilkins/Sasha. I am hearing that he will play more at the 2 and defensively he will be effective. offensively he will be given a chance. I do not see him as a stud but he could be similar to a Sealy-type athletic defender. I like the kid and if it was just the 16 for him I would be in love. I am upset we gave up Gomes.

3.) Most fans I talk to are upset that we did not package to move up and take another strong blue-chip prospect. We like the players that were brought in, but we should have packaged assets to move up. The summer is still young and we have a chance to get a buzz. We just wanted it in one night.

Yea, I never said draft night. It was expected to be draft night and I was told we were rejected 3 times. I would rather hold out for a little value then give Al away for nothing.

Someone quoted me? Where?

The fact that he played PF in college is actually a good thing. It shows that he has the toughness and versatility to switch off his man, and can defend in the post.

European stiff? Harsh. Ronzone knows his stuff. Going into the draft, the two internationals I had my eye on were Bjelica and Prestes. I am very happy with those two picks.

And wasnt Lazar playing out of position because that's what the team needed and that's what the coach asked of him? Difficult to hold that against him.

Thanks, but I'll keep with my point of view on this. European players are notorious for having extra high odds of becoming busts. Frédéric Weis to Igor Rakočević off the top of my head. There are exceptions to this of course; Dirk Nowitzki and likely Ricky Rubio, but with the rarity that you see a European not flamming out speaks for itself.

He also plays the SF/PF, which we have in depth. I'm not out riding Chad Ford's jock but I'm certainly not alone in my view of this player.

Bjelinca is a point forward with great ballhandling and passing skills. But he also lacks great athleticism, and he needs to add weight.

He'll probably be stashed overseas, if he plays a game for us I'll be shocked, if he has actual NBA talent I'll buy you a beer. Wasted pick.

I am upset we gave up Gomes.

Completely agree. How are we not the losers in that trade? Upgrade or not we got mugged for Webster. Al Jefferson just got that much harder to move now.

Most fans I talk to are upset that we did not package to move up and take another strong blue-chip prospect.

For a team that is supposedly trying to create a playoff caliber team in the next year or two. It feels like we just took a giant step back.

Center is still a big question mark. I'd like Darko to succeed but I have serious reservations.
The AL and Love logjam at PF must be resolved. I see this as our biggest challenge.
SF and SG obviously upgraded last night. But to playoff caliber? No.
PG is decent but could be better. Fingers crossed on the CBA and Rubio next year.

The offseason is just getting started, and I'm sure Kahn is working the phones. But with all the action of draft night and so many teams ready to wheel and deal I can't help but feel underwhelmed at the decision making behind the picks and flatness of the trades.

I want to be wrong. Nothing would make me happier than if Kahn sent us to the playoffs thanks to this draft. Somehow I don't think that will happen.

David Kahn gets an F, and you sunshiners/apologists ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Not only did he embarrass you in the draft, but also with his wind tunnel of a mouth. I feel sorry for all of you.

If he was a wasted pick, then why did the team fly him over here for a press conference? Loukas Mavrokefalidis was a wasted pick. This was not.
