They are working on a deal with the Wizards that would send Yi and cash to Washington for a player who makes “significantly less” than what the Nets’ power forward earns. Three sources confirmed this could happen.

The player could be Quinton Ross ($1.14 million) or one of their draft picks. Yi makes $4.05 million this season. Either way, the Nets are close to getting Yi’s salary off their books.

The Nets would do this to get as far under the cap as possible so they potentially could sign two max players. Yi for Ross would save the Nets close to $3 million and put them around $30 million.

Why are the Wizards so eager to take in bad contracts? Aren't they rebuilding?

Yi put up like 15 and 8 ona 4 mil contract that expires how is that a bad contract? He is a serviceable player who could be a productive shooter off the bench. Curry is the bad contract.

Let's just hope New Orleans isn't biting on Favors and Harris (or whoever NJ can flip Harris for).

It was only 12 & 7, but your point is still 100% correct. Yi's contract is not bad at all, especially when you consider that he's only 23 and opens up a market of a GAJILLION FkING PEOPLE for a Wizards team struggling to repair its name.

Wait, can they? Wow, I think they can.

Paul $14M = Harris $9M + Humphries $3M + T. Williams $2M + Favors ($Rookie?)

5. Lopez
4. Lee or Boozer ($13.5M)
3. LeBron ($16.5M)
2. ?
1. Chris Paul ($14M)

Yikes.

SG: C. LEE

That would be a scary team but I can't see Lebron liking Boozer very much after what he did to CLE.

Lee would be the better fit over Boozer here. His mid-range game doesn't clog up the lanes for Paul & LeBron, nor does it conflict with Lopez' post game. Lopez and LeBron cover for Lee's defensive deficiencies. There's probably not a more perfect fit outside of OKC for Lee to sign, provided this all goes down.
Amare Stoudamire - check

Chris Paul - on deck

THE KNICKS - WE'RE THE EFFIN' BEST!!!!!!!

As reported they use a trade exception to make the deal, and NJ sends 3 Mio Cash too. They basically get him for nothing but capspace. If I'm a Wizard Fan, I'm not too hot about the two trades, but I understand them. And really who were they gonna sign in free agency anyway?

The Wiz has 18M for Gil, 9M for Kirk,& over 5M for Walls, @ PG
Why did they trade for Kirk for so little back? They must have a deal for
Kirk somewhere else.

Kirk can backup both PG and SG and mentor Wall. And they are trying to move Arenas if they can, so Hinrich would move into the lineup.

Because the benefit of Hinrich, Seraphin & Yi outweighs the risks of giving Chicago and New Jersey a combined $13 mil in extra space. Ernie Grunfeld certainly doesn't seem concerned with the notion that the Bulls or Nets are about to become dynasties. None of us should be either.

Fans are quick to overreact, but the reality is Chicago and NJ still actually have to DO SOMETHING with the extra space.

Ernie Grunfeld is trying his best to screw the Knicks but I don't think he plans to dump Arenas on us. After he helped both Bulls and Nets, I think Walsh would hang up the phone if he calls ! LOL

Some could argue he's trying to help his team using his cap space to acquire players for nothing but Hinrich and Yi ain't that good and don't help his team much. Hinrich could probably help a playoff team (Lakers wanted him to replace Derek Fisher) but he's the kind of player who sucks on a bad or average team. About the Jared Jeffries trade, there's no indication Ernie Grunfeld would have accepted Jared Jeffries or would have accepted to help the Knicks clear more cap space because we didn't have our first round pick. Not to mention Ernie could have called Walsh when the whole league knew any team accepting Jared Jeffries would also get Jordan Hill and our 2012 first round pick (+ a swap in 2011). Grunfeld had enough expiring contracts to make a deal with the Knicks. If he didn't do it at the deadline I just can't see why he would have done it in june or july. So far only Washington accepted to use its cap space to help other teams. I don't think it means we overpaid that much, it probably means Washington gave the Bulls and the Nets a discount. Two years ago, the Suns traded two future unprotected first round picks to get rid of Kurt Thomas and his contract. Last year the Nuggets gave up their 2010 first round pick to get rid of Chris Hunter's $4 mil deal. Both the Suns and Nuggets wanted to avoid the tax or reduce their tax payments. Now you have the greatest free agency bonanza ever and a GM (Ernie Grunfeld) simply accepted to bail other teams out for little compensation. Grunfeld is acting like a cheap whore ready to give a discount to buy her dose of crack. It's as simple as that. Instant cap space is a tremendous asset and should get you more than Hinrich or Yi !

i considered this possibility too, that ernie seriously thinks he's getting talent on the cheap since it's a buyer's market right now. but ernie is not that stupid. as much as i hate this prick we all know he's a smarter GM than that. the only reality is that he's trying to screw us over, or there's some under the table thing going on

Hinrich isn't horrible, he is a gritty defender who can play both guard spots. He had a down year last year and is overpaid, but he doesn't have a "horrible" Curry-like contract. What should Grunfield do, just sit on the cap space and not try to improve his team?

Knicks are going to end up with Joe Johnson while the other teams end up with the superstars. This is the summer of EPIC FAIL for the knicks.

Curse you, Ernie! It's amazing how one clueless GM can affect the entire league. Didn't Houston set the price teams have to pay to clear cap room for two stars? Those teams would sell their mothers to sign Lebron James. How does he not get Taj Gibson and Terrence Williams plus a couple of 1st round picks in these trades?

Why would other teams help Mia, N.J, Chi, or even N.Y get LBJ. That's like helping yourself lose.

Hinrich has 9 mil this yr vs Currys 11 plus Hinrich has a additional year, considering there is a extra yr its just as bad
