Not interested in Barnes at all.

He's a decent defender against guys like Kobe and Wade, but outside of that he brings nothing to the table.

We need guys that can shoot/score to stretch the floor and give Kobe some relief, and Barnes does neither of those things well.

He'll only get half the MLE if he goes to Boston the same would happen in LA. Bostons gonna use the other half to get a C since Perkins may not be ready to play at the start of next season options for them at C are Brad MIller and maybe Shaq (according to Chis Mannix on sportscenter this morning).

I think miller would sign with us if the article about him wanting to win a chip is true.

the only thing that I see that can probably affect his decision is if he wants a bigger role on a team.

About this Bosh deal, If Mitch feels adding Bosh is an advantage over having Bynum than ok but giving up Bynum AND Odom for Bosh and Jack is WAY TOO much! Raps gotta add someone like Belinelli and/or Amir Johnson for that

Altho, Raps wanna unload Calderon NOT Jack, saw on the Raps board that they'd even take on Walton's horrendous contract. So i say, if a deal is to be made by Mitch then i think Bynum + Vujacic (Exp) + Walton for Bosh + Calderon + M. Belinelli or A. Johnson (i prefer to Belinelli I think that sounds fair. Raps get real talent in Bynum, expiring in Vujacic and a shorter ugly contract in Walton's. We get Bosh along with our future PG (Calderon) and a back-up to either Kobe or Bosh/Pau AND keep Odom. Not sure how our payroll would be after such a trade but i'm guessing we could sign the following players:

Mike Miller for MLE (You know he's gonna command it)
Raja Bell and another big for the vet's minimum
sign Crittenton to 2M/yr
re-sign Fish to vet min and Brown (unless he wants more money then let him along with Farmar walk.)

That way we look like this,

Fisher/Calderon/Crittenton
Bryant/Bell/Crittenton
Artest/Miller/Ebanks
Bosh/Odom/FA Big
Gasol/Bosh/Caracter

I put Calderon to back-up Fish cuz i think someone will have to rip the starting job away from Fish in order to start so Calderon will have to put in due time meanwhile he grasps the triangle.

Miggs you've built a team with what seems to be potentially 90m-100m payroll not gonna happen.

Even if we keep the same team together I believe the Lakers will still be between 90 - 100 mil.

That's kinda obnoxious, that idea isn't it...

"How many dream teamers does it take to win an NBA Championship?"

How great would that be to take down MIA with three dream teamers, that would be quite a challenge. The three best FA sign in MIA, and from what I understand they'd all have to take about a 5M hit off the max for it to work, WOW!

I'm thinking if Phil truly was leaning towards retiring, the idea of Riles racking up a couple of championships would have to play a part in Phil's decision.

Jay Mariotti said the three peat is the reason he's going to try to come back, I say bs he doesn't have to prove shi*, the idea of a three peat barely influences his decision in my opinion, but if Riles is going to try to rack up a few championships that's gotta irk Phil, after all he's a HUGE competitor at heart.

Don't worry if it happens. The Lakers frontcourt would dismantle Miami's frontcourt.

Did the math on the Trio - if it remains that Miami cannot deal Michael Bustley for nada, each superstar has to take 14.5 in a three-way split, plus LBJ and Bosh have to take shorter yrs. No efffing way that happens in this economy and with other lesser guys like Amare and JoeJ getting 16.5, while guaranteeing nothing (as LBJ already knows).

all these people here posting about signing three players, two with MLE and one with vet. min.
i understand that we can sign one with the vet min but do you guys really think that the two other players that you guys are mentioning would actually take like 2.5 mil each, for example people plan signing both Miller and Bell, in my opinion they would each want most of the MLE and i really dont see ourselves signing two players with the MLE

Raja Bell made $5.2 million last season. After missing an entire season with injury and being on the downside of his career, the last thing in the world he'll be getting is a pay raise or anywhere near what he's making now. Add in the state of the economy and the fact that teams are less eager to spend and I don't think it's unreasonable to assume he'll be making less than half of what he currently does. If I had to take a guess, I'd say he gets at most $2.5 million in this market, but there aren't many teams that are going to be willing to pay that much, and he's already stated that he's putting a premium on winning.

We can offer him the BAE which comes out to about $1.7 million this year, and $1.8 million next year. I don't know if he's willing to go that low, but if he wants to win, then he will.

Miller is going to command much more, but I don't know if it'll be the full MLE which I think is going to start at around $6.1 million this year. Like Bell, he's going to be taking a big pay cut. The question is really how much.

Whatever the case, I'd be extremely disappointed if we didn't get one of those two players. Both have expressed interest in playing for us, and both know they have to take pay cuts.

BTW, the alternative to Bell and Miller is Fisher and Brown. How pathetic is that? Fisher and Brown are asking for what we can afford to pay both Bell and Miller...

would love to see Lamar & Sasha for Al Jefferson then send Bynum to the Wizards for Kirk and Mike Miller.

Starting Line-up:

PG: Kirk
SG: Kobe
SF: Artest
PF: Pau
C: Al Jeff

Key Reserves: Fisher, Miller, MLE and whoever we would have had fill out our roster anyways.

Why does Minnesota do it? They get Odom and Sasha (expiring) - Also they both know the Triangle which Rambis is trying to put in place there.

Why does Washington do it? They have 200 guards and with Wall, Hinrich is a waste. Miller for Bynum is a great deal.

Seriously can we stop with the Bynum and Hinrich rumors Bynum isn't leaving and Hinrich isn't coming here. Could we discuss some realistic options for the Lakers.
