^ I don't think that ends the LeBron to the heat possibility at all. From what it sounds like, they all discussed it, and liked the idea, but didn't think it was actually a realistic possibility. But Wade seems to know that he's staying in Miami, so he's going to make a push to get Bosh to sign first, so that if all else fails, the two of them are together and can be a great foundation for the team. However, if Bosh and Wade have already both signed with Miami, then LeBron is either staying in Cleveland (in which the Heat may feel that they're now the best team in the East, or at least much closer), going to one of his other suitors and teaming up with a 2nd tier allstar free agent (and again, possibly still worse than the Heat, or at least comparable), or signing with the Heat to form the "dream team".
Wade + Bosh together on the Heat puts the two of them in a great place where there will be no lopsided dynasty in the East, simply a collection of good teams like there normally are, OR the dynasty will be their own team, so the two of them win automatically.
But the problem with that is that Bosh could easily do the same by following LeBron, or LeBron and Wade together. But LeBron is clearly the biggest mystery in all of this, and I genuinely believe that he hasn't made up his mind yet, and I think the other players are seeing this and are maybe getting weary of what might happen if they let LeBron start the falling of the dominos so to speak.
Plus, if Wade + Bosh are signed in Miami, and LeBron decides to stay in Cleveland or go elsewhere, the Heat in theory could still sign another max FA, or sign 2-3 solid guys instead to build a core around Wade/Bosh. If the Heat managed to be in the middle of the pack in the East the last few years with essentially only Wade, then the addition of Bosh and some quality role players would surely catapault them to the top.
As happy as I am with the Wizards' potential progress over the next few years, and I am willing to be patient, I still can't help but be jealous of the Heat right now. So many good options. Worst case scenario they resign Wade and no one else comes, but they have a **** of cap space for the future and they likely make the playoffs again in the meantime.
