I hope your rite brutha because 4 mill for Blake really pisses me off when we could have had Mike Miller who essentially gives us the same thing but is a much better shooter

If sasha is the the player we expect to use in a sign and trade I'd say zero chance of that happening.

thats a bummer. maybe mitch felt miller wouldn't have been willing to settle for just 5 yrs and 30 mil.

He's an expiring contract of 5.475 million, teams like that when packaged with picks or prospects.

Yea but why would the wiz want an expiring contract for next year when Miller expires this offseason? That means instead of letting him walk they have to pay a bum like Sasha 5.5 mill for another year which makes no sense unless we throw in multiple picks.

Mr. Guy that just bought the Wizards wants to rebuild via the Draft.

The Lakers won't be giving him lottery picks, but some picks could mean something for him.

Also - who knows who we could sign with that expiring - Miller was just the guy the thread was about.

I think maybe we are forgetting the possibility that Miller just doesn't want to sign with us. Sure, he can get paid good money and win a couple of rings, but he could get more money somewhere else and play a bigger role on another team. Perhaps he just doesn't think playing behind Kobe and Artest is what he wants to do at this stage of his career. Either way, I like the Blake signing and propose that we give a look at guys like Q Richardson to fill that backup swingman role.

Because they could actually like Miller enough to not let him walk without getting something back. One year is nothing. Sasha had a great contract year in 2007, I have no reason to believe he won't (magically) have another. And yes, he is still a decent shooter who will land in Washington's rotation.

In hindsight, we probably should have tried packaging Sasha with Morrison and re-signing Miller at the trade deadline. But no, it's not inconceivable for Washington to completely pass on a S&T for Sasha. Luke on the other hand...

it is very inconceivable to think washington does a s&t for sasha. it really makes no sense at all. youre basically asking them to throw 5mil into the trash can.

Come on man. So Washington is going to take their cap room, use it to sign Miller, then trade him for Sasha? So, instead of using that 5 mil to sign whoever they want, they're going to use it to pay Sasha? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

If our draft picks were worth something, then yes.

But they're not, so that's irrelevant.

And what free agent on this years market, superior to Sasha, wants to go to Washington?

They stand a better chance making use of that money next year, so yeah...

Seriously?

For 5.5 mil a year? Plenty.

Just how good do you think Sasha is?

They could spend 5.5 mil this year on Sasha, or, they could spend the vet min and get another player who can't do anything but shoot, and only sometimes at that.

Mike Miller???

Post#199 » by joe.linnen » Sat Jul 3, 2010 2:12 am

I really want him here, but I don't see how we can get him other than a S&T. I don't see Washington taking on Farmar, Vujacic, or Morrison for Mike Miller. What do you guys think?
