 What does the vet minimum have to do with Sasha's contract? That's an exception for teams OVER the cap; something Washington is far from. And even if they were over it, Sasha's Bird rights is another exception that carries over in it's own right...

pipedream- Wiz like Shann and take Shann (s/t 2.38m), 3 mil cash, '11 1st and Mia's '11 2nd for Miller s/t (3.0)?

They get 2 picks, basically get Shann for price of a minimum player.
Miller has to agree to the lowball though.

The vets minimum is not an exception, it's just a salary number. The point is, Washington can sign someone for 1 mil who can give them more than Sasha can at 5.5 mil. So, there's no chance they sign and trade Miller for Sasha. It makes zero sense for the Wizards and only the most delusional of Lakers fans would even entertain the idea.

It's a soft cap with restrictions. The only way you can sign players when you're over the cap is with the MLE, the LLE or if you sign a player to the vet minimum salary. We've now used up the majority of the MLE, so unless Miller wants to play for peanuts, we can't sign him.

Thanks. So I guess the lesson here is that when LA are the Champs and they come knocking... Get on board or get out the way...

How the Lakers could land Mike Miller

Trade Vujacic+ '11 1st+ 3m cash to Clippers for Steve Blake S&T, instead of via MLE

- Clips, provided they strike out in big name FA, have no backup SG right now.
- They get experienced vet for 2.47 mil; their backcourt looks like:
Baron/Bledsoe/(Warren)
Gordon/Vujacic/Warren
- And most importantly, get the 1st back they lost in the Bledsoe deal.

Lakers:
Then put that MLE back out there for Miller!
Blake still gets 4/16 but it's 4.3, 3.7, 4.0, 4.0 (which benefits him if there's a lockout)

raja, maybe... miller, no way..

we just dont have the money to give miller the money he wants now that we got steve blake. if a miracle happens and we worked out that S&T with the clips then mayyybeeeee we could get miller.. but the way its looking.. theres not really a chance.. raja might come play here for the leftover 1.8 mil we have left of the MLE

I'd consider that a hell of a trade. I'm guessing more like a bag of moldy jock straps.

That said, it's a contract year, and he went all out for the last one, so maybe we'll get one last decent season out of him. We sure could use it.

I agree but I hope we dont make the same mistake and resign him like we did before.
