Having a competent GM right around now would be nice.
Meddling owner w/ little experience on how to run a team + Player's coach
= Overpaid player

I mean, when you think about it he was leaving anyways. Why not with a bang? Too bad he hasn't blasted $arver publicly yet.

Exactly. Barkley will stand up to $arver's ridiculous cost cutting moves, and if he is fired, we all know he will go out with a bang, and tarnish Sarver's image.

No one will want to work for Sarver anymore, and no one will want to play for the Suns.

Sarver will then have to sell the team. :D

Sounds like a great plan. :D

I almost expect Kerr to blast Sarver on the Suns first TNT game this season, that he covers. Just spend the entire third quarter blasting Sarver and letting it be pure silence for the entire fourth.

I sure as hell hope so but Kerr is too classy for that. Unfortunately.

Kerr is still a minority owner of the Suns. Not happening.

Un-stickying this as well. Not enough traffic to keep it above all the current topics. Either it'll still be bumped or we can create a new thread when someone signs on, whatever.

Where is Mark West? I thought at one point he was in line to be a GM.

Highly respected player agent Lon Babby has emerged as an unexpected candidate to head the Phoenix Suns' restructured front-office, according to sources with knowledge of the Suns' plans.

Sources told ESPN.com that Suns owner Robert Sarver is increasingly interested in replacing the successful Steve Kerr with a revamped structure that includes non-traditional voices as well as traditional personnel experts.

Babby, sources said, is getting strong consideration to lead the new department.

Sarver declined comment when reached Saturday night, saying only that he doesn't foresee finalizing his hires for another week or two.

San Antonio's Tim Duncan, Boston's Ray Allen and Suns swingman Grant Hill are current Babby clients.

Babby, who worked as a lawyer for the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles for nearly 20 years before he began representing NBA players, could not be immediately reached for comment Saturday night.

I never heard of Babby before though he must be a good agent since he has Hill, Duncan and Allen. Still being a agent is a lot easier than being a GM.

I think it sounds more like he'll run the front office - President of bball operations, not GM. Other title, Kerr had.

Its funny how you guys are all buttering up Kerr's jock... easy to do when you have another suit to hate on.

You blame Sarver for Kerr having no spine ? You champion lil-stevie for being a 'yes' man ? Did you ever think (Kerr) never wanted this job and half-assed his way out of it, running back to the cushy microphone at the first chance he got ? (He did you know?)

I am not saying Sarver is not a jerk... but we know so little about the back room going ons, and gladly fill in the assumptive blanks with a good cop/bad cop scenario.

You hate deflection/direction is skewed by existing biases.

I am glad Kerr is gone, he was a mediocre GM, yet y'all are swooning over his departure. I am also glad Sarver has his desired budget. Its about time, and was painful to get here. Dont look now though... we have more flexibility to improve this team than we have had since we signed Nash.

If you dont think Sarver had animosity towards the free spending Colonjellos and the boneheaded D'Ant maneuvers you have to be crazy. He trusted 'basketball minds' and they created a negative domino effect on each successive yr.

Only now we can truly judge the FO. I hope Sarver hires Hill's agent. Think about it. If he was such the scroogish jerk like some of you paint, why would Babby be interested ? Could this be setting up Hill's eventual move into the FO as well ? I think so.... but it is purely an assumption.
What ? Me Worry ?
