Re: Mike Miller....lakers no longer interested
Teams that missed out on JoeJ are now looking to Miller if they have an extra 6 or 7 mil after signing their big names. He'll get more when its all said and done, than the 5/30 that may or may not have been on the Laker table.

Re: Mike Miller....lakers no longer interested
This FA period is moving much more slowly than expected. Some are reporting that NYK may dump Amare if LBJ wants Boozer or Bosh instead. There is still lots of time until 7/8. Don't be surprised fi the deck is re-shuffled again. Blake is a quality signing, but money may get tight and Miller may be left in the cold.
Sasha has lots fo valuae as an expiring; he could be traded for a player that is on a cheaper annual salry, but has more years. Walton may be forced to retire due to injuries that would open up a roster spot, save us some LT and gives us a $2.5mm exemption to replace him. Teams looking to sign players may be looking to dump good talent. Ever wonder what Beasley would look like in forum blue and gold? This is the time of year that scavengers do very well.

Unfortunately, there are 17 million reasons for Luke to stick around.

If Walton is physically unable to perform, he is forced to retire. If there is a major injury, the team can also apply for an exemption. Houston got such an exemption for Yao and used the money to sign Ariza. Walton is going to want to be paid and he will get paid, but if he cannot comeback from his injury, there are provisions to accomodate this type of situation and minimize the LT hit.
As for Vujacic being traded for a longer contract with a smaller amount, he could be traded for Charlie Bell with Golden State. Total value of the contract is somthing like $7.5mm, but over 2 years, while Vujacic is $5.4mm this year. Is this better for LA to make this type of deal? It depends on use of roster spot, value of the player et al. Should Morrison been trade for Bell last year? possibly, but LA knew that they would use a 2d rounder to replace morrison and the combined cost of Morrison and the 2d rounder is cheaper than 2 years of Bell.
Was poking around and have not finalized this concept, but if Miami needs space, there is an odd deal that may work involving Dallas, LAL and Miami. Beasley to LA, Vujacic to Dallas and Matt Carroll to Miami. Carroll has almost $8.0mm on his contract and is te worst player, but the lowest cap annual number because he has 3 more years. Beasley is a head case, with 1 year on his deal. Vujacic is an EC with $5.4mm and Dallas can use him as a trading piece in some other deal. Miami could do this deal Dallas, but if picks are involved, LA is more likely to send out picks. Likelihood of such a deal. Slim. More likely, Sasha gets the Mihm treatmenta and is dumped with the 2011 1st at teh deadline to reduce the LT by $5.4mm.

A deal like this is similar to what we offered him. If he takes the deal with them now after we offered him one I would be so pissed.

The Heat have offered Mike Miller a five-year deal, worth approximately $27 million-$30 million.

Re: Mike Miller....lakers no longer interested
So can you use a trade exception if you don't have cap space?
I'm guessing that Miami will sign Mike Miller, Lebron and Wade and then trade for Bosh? If I were Toronto, I would **** them by not S&T Bosh.

If Mr. Miller want's more money, then so be it!!
Stop bashing guys who would like to want to play for a team that offers more money than us.
Heard 1 guy saying it's a privilege to play for the Lakers..get out of here dude!!
Lakers is a classy organization..but let somebody offer me 3-4 million more!!

Um, didn't we take the deal off the table way before the deadline we gave Miller so that we could sign Blake instead?
Stellar.
