I still think he is coming to NY.
Think about the many times the media has breathlessly proclaimed the flava-of-the-day to be the the lead horse in this....only to do an abrupt about face. ESPN's Broussard the primo example. 2 weeks ago, the knicks were not even worth mentioning and Chi was the real deal...knix get STAT and suddenly are in the picture and not a peep about Chicago....
The proposed move to Miami does nothing to advance his brand and actually tarnishes it especially given the manner under which the announcement would have to occur.
He's in NY today b/c Carmelo's wedding?...c'mon...the dude could do a quick presser in Ohio like Wade did for his announcement...jump in the Gulfstream and be in NYC for cocktails.
This setup has all the trappings of a brand being launched...create multiple levels of buzz, daily misdirection etc....If he came straight out for the Knix days ago with the usual press conference, new shirt and hat etc., the reaction from non-NYC fans w/b underwhelming....HOWEVER, create the misdirection (MIAMI) to get the WOW factor for the launch by setting everyone up...and he grabs everyone's attention....as much as these three guys have talked about their moves, the possibility of all 3 joining forces only became a story today?!?
Plus David Stern has been very inconspicuous by his absence....he knows that the league is built on the rivalries and the two-man setup in Chicago, Miami and NYC is the way to create the real action for years to come....the mini All-Star concept in Miami doesn't do it....
In real terms, didn't Wade just get divorced...wife probably took half...yea, he's gonna take a big paycut!
For LBJ in Miami, he ain't even Robin....he's part of the Beatles or better yet, the Jonas Brothers, b/c he doesn't even have a ring yet!
Something just doesn't add up.....
