It's torture to think that if we moved Deng we could have fit those three under the cap with the same deals they signed in Miami. I'm pretty sure Deng could have been move in much the same way that Beasley was after the three committed. Instead of Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem they then could have been playing with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. In the end I think those three guys just wanted to party in Miami.

Don't torture yourself. They wanted to play in Miami, not here. You don't think that the FO could have dumped Lu's salary for nothing, and would have, if they thought they could have signed all those guys at those salaries? New York could have done it, too; apparently, that was their pitch. The 3 Amigos chose Miami. Let it go.

I am fairly certain as well. JR is a self made millionare, whereas Wade and co. are just ball players. Granted they are self made as well but didn't do so with thier wits alone, but rather simply because they are great athletes. I dont see Wade and his champion-chip seeking self pulling one over on JR.

Landing Boozer saved free agency. It would be pretty depressing heading into the season having gutted half the team for nothing. The moves the front office made have been a success because of Boozer so it's hard to complain in hindsight about Kirk/Gordon.

But I do agree with you about Gordon. With Stoudemire/Boozer/Bosh/Lee available for the taking, nobody would have killed the Bulls if they simply kept the SG position filled and focused their entire effort on landing one of those PFs. Given the amount of teams clearing salary, the odds were against the Bulls to sign two star free agents.

On another note, given Arn Tellum's relationship with Reinsdorf, I wonder if they expected Joe Johnson to be available and were a little blind-sided by Atlanta's offer. When Atlanta offered the max, Joe Johnson decided to take the money.

Right now, the Bulls have basically got nothing for Hinrich. I can understand the hand wringing. That being said, if they end up landing Brewer and Redick for Hinrich and the 17, it would have been a good trade. So basically the verdict is still out on this transaction.

If we can get J.J. I'm convinced he will help us more than Kirk. Like Kirk he hustles on D, even if he isn't always effective. But he is so much more efficient as a scorer, and the indirect benefit to Rose is going to have a multiplicative effect on the team's offense, to a degree much more helpful than any D we lose there.

The Bulls will still have a lot of defensive players in Noah, Gibson, Deng, and hopefully Asik. And I expect Derrick to grow on defense (he already began to last year) with his innate tools and Thibodeau's tutoring.

If we get Brewer instead, he will prevent any loss of defense, and actually matches up to big guards better than Kirk, while also providing a good running mate for Rose in transition, as well as an excellent finisher.

We will lose shooting in the halfcourt but would still be ok with the Rose/Boozer PnR.
