Shannon Brown
Now that Barnes has signed with the Lakers I doubt they'll be able to get Brown. Should the Jazz go after him? I kind of see him as a bigger, taller, longer Ronnie Price. I think he'd be an improvement.

Re: Shannon Brown
I would take him for real cheap. While he may be an improvement over Price, I think there is a major reason he hasn't been signed yet, and I don't think he will flourish in our system. That said, I would trade one for the other for sure.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

He ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, and a lot of Lakers fans seem to hate him, but I wouldn't kick him out of bed.

Re: Shannon Brown
What is the MAJOR REASON?
It does sound strange to me. They got rid of Farmar and Brown, and I rather have both of them than Barnes, especially that they are both young and have more upside. Basically, they signed Fisher to appease Kobe, and since both Brown and Farmar probably are better than Fisher at this stage, they let both of them go. And I don't think Blake is better than either of them, as well. Some people say Brown can't play point, but he has lots of ability that can be developed. Don't understand what the Lakers are thinking. Maybe Kobe has a lot to do with it.

Re: Shannon Brown
Blake is pretty underrated. He's better than both Farmar and Brown, and it's not like picking up Barnes and Ratliff to add to their depth is a bad thing. Now they don't have to really deal with Walton.
Imagine how fiesty and annoying a lineup of Vujacic, Kobe, Barnes, Gasol, and Bynum would be. How the hell do you score against that lineup?
We're probably not getting past them this year still.

Barnes is overrated defensively. More of a paper tiger in my book.

Mike Trudell: http://twitter.com/LakersReporter
From Kevin Ding - OC Register:
Kupchak added that the Lakers are still talking to Shannon Brown, and he's "optimistic" about re-signing Brown.
If the Lakers sign Brown and both 2nd rounders, Kupchak said he's comfortable with carrying 14 on the roster (13 last year).
From Kevin Ding - OC Register:
Mitch Kupchak was "optimistic" about Shannon Brown returning to the Lakers, and called [the signing of] Matt Barnes "insurance" because Luke Walton (back - nerve damage) might well miss next season.

Re: Shannon Brown
I'd sign Brown as a back-up SG and not PG. He, to me, can play Brewer's old role, cutting baseline and finishing with his athleticism.
But I'd rather give those minutes to Hayward.

Re: Shannon Brown
Based on athleticism alone, this guy has a lot of potential if coached to his strengths. His jumpshot isn't as consistent but he isn't shy to shoot the 3. With the right amount of work from himself, he could be a great backup Point.

Re: Shannon Brown
he's similar to price and we're already in the luxury tax territory. this means that arguably he won't find here more money nor playng time than in LA.
However, i like the guy, and i'd tender him a 3 year-8 millions offer.

I still find it funny people on Real GM think Price is a decent NBA backup PG.

This is where you got it all wrong
Farmar and Brown are horrible.
Farmar is me first point guard, never looks to pass in the post, and takes some of the most questionable shots known to man. Sure hes athletic, but his bball iq is just not there, and he doesnt fit in at all in the triangle.
For brown, he played well his first year with us. He knew his role, played within the system. Then the 2nd year, seems like he just wanted a contract so he started doing things he knows he cant do. Such as over dribbling (horrible handles) and bad shot taker.
Blake is an improvement over both. And Barnes is better than both also.
ANd also, word is Shannon is asking for 4 to 5 million per season. Serious? What have you done to earn almost MLE type money? Unless hes open on a breakaway, hes pretty much useless.
