hey what do people thinking about picking hibbert over aldrich? I might have taken aldrich but I didn't want too many players from the same draft class in my lineup.

Problem I see with Hibbert is that he's not among the more quick footed centers in the NBA (7'2 and 280lbs kinda limits how quickly you can get up and down the floor). With Wall, Gordon and Favors you're more prone to be pushing the ball up. Hibbert would become a liability in that respect since there will be a lot of 4 on 5's for the initial several seconds. Aldrich is also no gazelle but he's more mobile than Hibbert and probably would have been a better pick in terms of fit...especially when you consider that both Wall and Gordon can setup guys and Aldrich is a terrific finisher.

The Spurs have two fifth round selections (#130 and #143) on the block.

Also Carl Landry can be had in the right deal.

PG- Oscar Robertson/Bob Cousy
SG- Earl Monroe/James Harden/Dana Barros
SF- Billy Cunningham/Michael Finley/Chet Walker

Made our pick in 5 minutes. =)

Can't believe Haywood dropped so far... very happy to have him.

Nice Haywood pick. Best center available on my draft board.

I liked Haywood, but his $52M contract, age and injury potential scared me off.

hmm you have a good point. I like his defense though (and size, no amechi) and think he has some upside. with that said, would anyone like to trade for hibbert? send your offers to canofpeas.realgm@gmail.com I am mostly looking for a pick within the next 20 + maybe a 6th for hibbert and a later round pick.

Haven't received anything. I'll be in the chat for a little bit if you want to discuss anything though.

same here

I see the concern, but compared to other real centers on the board? Without name dropping, I'd still rather have Haywood as the player he is now.

Bingo his new deal is a killer. He's not as fleet of foot and when Dallas traded for him last year he proved to not be a noticeable difference maker as they got waxed by the Spurs in the first round. He's a good center looking at him strictly in a vacuum.

Haywood is good value this deep in the draft, but I'm not a fan of the fit on your squad KLN...nor was I a fan of the Lamar Odom selection.

IMO, Haywood is one of the best interior defenders in the NBA. I have plenty of offense, but imo, he was clearly the best Center available.

On Odom: I needed a 4, and for the system that I was running, he was clearly the BPA. He's a great passer, he can run the floor, and he can put it on the floor, as well as dish it. He's definitely going to have a much bigger role in Sacramento, and will be the go to guy down low, as well as the receiver for Deron's PnR. So expect his PPG/shots to go way up. Look what Deron did for Millsap/Boozer. A great PG makes everyone around them better.

That Odom selection was a head scratcher for me also, and you know how I felt about your team

Well, I have a certain coach in mind to make it all work. It's all part of the plan. :P
