But I like Gallo too darn much. People who watched him last year know that he's a gifted player and I feel that NYK would be losing the talent swap to win the size swap. I wouldn't do it.

But there was a poll on this on the knicks board and the feeling was pretty divided.

I don't get the whole talent swap argument though. If you were trading Gallo for, say, a Marcus Camby, who's not really a skilled big man, just a guy who crashes the boards and blocks shots, I can understand. But Lopez is a guy that put up 19 ppg last season, primarily from the low post. He's got great footwork and hands, and he also has a nice midrange jumper. A guy who puts up close to 20/10, with a low post game, great footwork, soft hands, and a decent jumper is a pretty damn skilled big man imo. Gallo is skilled for his position, while Lopez is skilled for his position. And Lopez is probably the 3rd best center in the East, behind Howard and Bogut. If he improves his defense, which is very doable under Avery and Sam Mitchell, I think he surpasses Bogut.

That's a very fair argument, and I don't watch the nets, so I don't really know Lopez.

But, I watched Gallo last year and I loved what I saw. Also, I think there's room for improvement. I think Gallo can improve on his 38% from 3, and I saw him make some really sweet passes. Gallo, at times, is larry birdlike the way he hits the open man. He plays the game the right way and the knicks last year had a bunch of guys who played in the wrong way and Gallo was the only guy on the court with a brain.

So, maybe I'm overrating him because he has a brain, but I really liked what I saw in him, and combine that with his age and the fact that last year was like a rookie season - I'm high on gallo.

Maybe brook is better, and to be fair, I didn't really watch the guy. It's a knick fans prerogative to hate the nets.

My team just drafted 2 centers this past draft and traded for a 3rd right before the draft and I'd STILL take Lopez over Gallo by a mile. As Cammo said at the start of this thread: Lopez is a better player at a far more rare position.

Gallo is just another in a LOOOOONG like of Knick prospects that have been ridiculously overrated by Knicks fans. Every time they get any young player they tout him as the next <insert franchise player here>. Gallo's the next Dirk, Hill was the next Amare, Frye was the next JO, Ariza was the next TMac, etc. And then the Knick fans have the gall to talk about all this "hate". It's called reality, deal with it.

Yeah, I don't know too much about Gallo either, since I don't really watch the Knicks. But what you said about the only player on the court with a brain, I felt the same way about Lopez on the Nets, except I felt he was the only one on the court with talent lol. The only decent players the Nets had last year were Harris, T-Will, and Lopez. Courtney Lee and CDR were alright, but they were horribly inconsistent. T-Will emerged late in the season, and Harris was injured, and when he played, he had his worst season ever (shot 40% from the field, which he hasn't done before). Lopez was the only guy on the team who was consistently good from beginning to end.

You really could have just written "You shouldn't take me seriously" instead of this sentence. It would have accomplished the same thing.

I think I'll bookmark all these terrible threads just to show how atrocious people on these forums are at judging talent.

Not like id expect much from people that even think theres a comparison between Nash and Rondo. That and people that don't even want to rate Dwight Howard as top5 in the NBA. Oh ya and how Pau Gasol is "the best PF in the league."

cu @ allstar break. maybe the nets will have more than 6 wins then?

I think Gallinari is a better player. That said, Brook Lopez is MUCH more valuable when you consider how important it is to have a legitimate C, and when you look at relative value. The gap between Lopez and the average NBA C is significantly larger than the gap between Gallo and the average NBA SF.

considering the hate the Knicks players get in this board, it's all balances out.
if anything, all my post does is attempt to bring it up to a fair contest.

You have got to be joking. The fans on here saying they wouldn't trade Gallo for Chris Paul is just one example in a long line of Homerish things said.

Let me guess. The Knicks would beat the Bucks in a playoff series right?

Knick fans need to come back to Earth on Gallo. He is a nice player but no where near as good as people make him out to be.

He's okay, but at this point he's a potential talent at a position that's very easy to fill. Lopez is already a solid player at the hardest to fill position in basketball, and is still improving. Finding a comparable talent to Gallinari, even if he pans out into an All-Star, is a hell of a lot easier than getting your hands on a good center these days.

Has nothing to do with a lack of love, and everything to do with the player you're comparing him to. Lopez is one of the best young centers in the league, while Gallo is still searching for a true position.

this

Gallinari is just a tall shooter. I don't see the big deal, and I don't see the overwhelming talent Knicks fans see.

Maybe one day he'll be as good as Detlef Shrempf or somebody of that calibre, but I doubt it.

Just a question. If this was Bogut vs. Gallo do you think the poll results would be identical?

Here a answer for you
1st this should be on the Comparisons board, this is just a BS way to put it on the Trade Board
2nd try Gallo vs Bucks PF/SF or Nets PF/SF
Follow the science not some internet physician & get your shots.
