I'd rather throw Jones in there for rebounding purposes, but he's still otherwise raw offensively.

I am really confused by this post.

So if he came we would be a contender. This implies Dampier is the missing link for us being a contender.

Then he is fine for just a few minutes. So does a few minutes of "fine" Dampier make us a contender?

Then you would rather play Jones, who is already on the roster. If he is better than Dampier, wouldn't this mean we are already a contender?

Throughout your post, you went from:
1) Dampier being the missing link to a potential championship.
2) Dampier being ok, if it's just for a few minutes.
3) Dampier not even being an upgrade at all.

Which is it? :D

Uh....

Dampier coming here would help us become a contender not because he's some sort of amazing player, but because he fills a need of an experienced big to back up Robin Lopez if/when he gets into foul trouble. Right now, Robin is our only "legit" center. Dampier, in spurts, will help. It's depth.

Clearly Jones is MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE in terms of the rebounding load, but OBVIOUSLY I have no say in who actually plays, and a guy like Dampier would have more "credibility" in the rotation to the coaches.

Not sure if my post was really that confusing or if you just wanted to be a smart ass.

Give us Dampier. He's like a better Jamal Magloire, he rebounds, a big body down low and can play D.

It's an indication of where the NBA is today that teams like the Miami HEAT, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, and even Houston Rockets are all expressing interest (Houston has a two-year, $4 million offer on the table) in Dampier, who couldn't have held David Robinson's sweaty gym shorts.

I'm sorry to even bring this up, but if we were to get Dampier, would it be a half-decent idea to tell Hill that he'll probably never play and Start Hedo at SF?

Nash/Dragic/Janning/Hill
JRich/JChill/Hill/Janning
Hedo/Dudley/Hill/Clark
Frye/Warrick/Lawal/Clark
Lopez/Dampier/Jones/Lawal

I LOVE Hill, but we can't make him leave... I understand he's probably to talented and servicable for that but... it makes sense right?

THAT right there would be my ideal lineup that makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE then throwing hedo at PF. its hard cuz hill has been such a loyal and serviceable player that gentry won't bring him off the bench...even tho it would be for the best... i can't see the suns trading Hill unless we absolutely SUCK and end up shipping him to a contender

Yeah lets bench Hill in his last season, after his best season in a decade...

We simply have too many players. Put Hedo on the bench? Where does warrick or dudley fit in then?

Trade JRich and start Hedo at the 2?

There is no way we go past the trade deadline this year with the same squad.

Hill is going to remain a starter unless Dudley or Clark go into beast mode.

I didn't say it made sense... but that lineup is so much better than Hedo at PF right? Maybe Hill can be a coach for us instead

You guys need a 5 that can rebound and defend the interior well, Damp can do both. Honestly, if you guys made a play for David Lee and signed Dampier, I think you guys would have been serious contenders.

Please dont mention David Lee on our forum. Its a sore subject. We wanted him in exchange for Amare. Alot of us have/had hard-ons for Lee. :(
