Yeah, the D-line has been solid as hell, maybe not super spectacular but pretty damn solid.Sucks Harrell got hurt and Jolly got suspended or it could have been like 2007 with the solid rotation of guys which would have been almost unfair.
Obviously our secondary when healthy is great as well.
Once TT can upgrade the LB group this defense will be damn good.
Woodson can only be elite so long, father time catches up sometimes very quickly with guys who need speed to be productive and who knows about Harris.
Very true but I think Woodson might be the rare exception.
I don't know how long he can play at an elite level, his days are probably numbered in that regard but I think he can still be solid for another 4-5 years.
I'd agree that if Woodson wanted to play another 4 years or so, he likely could be productive assuming he doesn't suffer any bad injuries to his knees or feet.
What i wonder about is how many of those 4 years or so can be at cornerback? At this point in his career i have no idea what kind of 40 time Woodson would run, but it seems clear to me that his incredible smarts, savvy, and instincts are what make him special more than athletic gifts. That said, he still has enough speed left which combined with his smarts/instincts, it makes him an elite corner. Two years from now though, his best chance to be very good might be as a safety. Impossible to know right now.
Either way, with as pass happy as the NFL is, i'll never complain if Ted uses a 1st-3rd round pick on a corner. You'll never hear an NFL GM or coach say, damn, we just have to many quality corners. In fact, Ted has taken some risk by only using one 1st-3rd round pick on a corner in five years of drafting and that was Lee who seems a bust. When Harris got hurt last year, it showed then that there wasn't really any young quality CB ready to step into the nickle job after Tramon was bumped to starter. So Bush became the nickle corner and obviously that didn't go well.
