What is this Brooks talk about anyway? Not only is it meaningless preseason, but him and Hayes probably were the best players out there.
The one I guy I still feel very indifferent about is Kevin Martin.
I thought he looked rather bad (once again). His numbers look good, but he doesn't move the ball, which kills any ball movement/offensive flow anytime he touches the ball. He plays no defense whatsoever and his poor handles get him stuck in bad situations. He somehow ended up drawing fouls on some of them, but that's against some guys trying to make the Spurs roster. If the defense plays him for the shot/drive, he's completly lost and on any handoff or pick&roll he looks for nothing but his shot. His reads are terrible. If nobody is wide open he won't pass the ball. It's me, me, me with the guy. He makes Richard Hamilton look like Jason Kidd.
That said I wish Adelman would mix it up a little more and run more off-screen plays (for Martin) [single double variations, some cross screen plays, some curl plays, etc...] and less read and react offense. It's just so tough to defend and the Rockets have the perfect personal for it, especially when Yao is sitting on the bench.
Recent history has shown that it's one of the best, if not the best offense to run without a designated post player or go-to scorer (Detroit 04, Boston 08).
Though the focus should be on defense for now, because even though the offense still leaves a lot to be desired, the defense is where it starts.
By the way,
who knew Marcus Cousin pulled down two rebounds versus Texas, while his hobbies include playing basketball?
