The Plyo day was the toughest workout I've ever done, I think.

Who's Ken Pow?

Kenpo is the easiest workout, but you can get dizzy having to look back and forth.

I use weighted gloves when I do Kenpo. 3 lbs.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Anyone else doing P90X feel like they were weaker or more out of gas for day 7 (day 2 of Chest/Back) vs. day 1? I did today. Don't know if it is just sore body or what, but I'm wiped.

This is going to be mega hard to stick with.

I believe its kind of a good sign. The objective i believe its not to make it easier. That why in the fourth week, when you are supposedly to start getting used to the charge they change the schedule, so your body never gets used to it and the muscle grows faster.

I'm sleepy and tired and i don't know if i made myself clear in english, but i'm sure MD will give you a more appropriate answer.

Yeah, for some people, (myself included in some things) P90X needs pre-season training lol

What's great (or not) is that after 3 weeks, when your body is getting used to the workouts, they change :)

I just started running about a year ago, and I have only ran two 5K races and a marathon relay in which I ran about 8 miles. My fastest timed 5k is a 21:44, but I think I may be able to do it a little bit faster now. I actually have been straying away from running and focusing more on lifting and nutrition. I have always wanted to get in really good shape, and recently I have been doing something about it. I used to hate lifting, but recently I have grown to like it a lot. I work out 5 days a week, but nutrition is the most important thing by far. My daily meal plan usually looks something like this:

Meal 1: Egg white omelette (usually about 6 eggs), 1/2 cup of 100% natural oatmeal w/ raisins
Meal 2 (pre-workout): Whey Protein shake (1 scoop)
Meal 3: (after workout): Whey Protein shake (1 scoop)
Meal 4: Something like wild salmon/tuna/grilled chicken, mixed vegetables, and brown rice/whole wheat toast
Meal 5: usually similar to meal 4
Meal 6: Casein protein (which is a slow release protein I take right before bed so that my body doesn't get hungry by not eating for however many hours before I wake up)

I just went thru this whole thread, and this is the exact same diet I follow Monday-Friday. I read about it a few months ago. Maybe you know this but it's the exact diet Brad Pitt followed for his role as Tyler Durden in Fight Club.

Excellent for ectomorphs (naturally thin). I'm a hell of a lot more muscular than I was just a few months ago. I've went from 6' 170 to 160 lbs, but I'm just a lot more cut.

You're right. The Fight Club thing is what got me started as well. I did that for a couple of weeks, then started switching up the workouts and of course the diet as well, but still following pretty much the same nutritional basis since eating the same thing every day gets pretty old. Now instead of 15 reps, I lift heavier doing usually 8-12 which helps add muscle rather than definition. It has worked well for me recently but I have been slacking on it because I had the flu for a little while and now I have a 5k race this Saturday so I didn't want to lift too much the past week. Anyways, I will be getting back into the swing of things probably on Monday. Very coincidental that you found the same article though and noticed it just from my diet post :D

This is a tough time of year to stay in shape. We're not outside much anymore, holidays are coming up. I do tend to eat a lot more garbage once football season starts.

For those of you who have completed P90X (I recommend doing it twice before moving on), I would suggest P90X Plus as well as some of Tony's One on One workouts to keep things fresh.

P90X Plus has 5 new workouts that you mix in with the original P90X

Interval X Plus - Cardio routine and a good one. Each move has 3 speeds, slow, medium, max. Good burner

Kenpo Cardio - A bit more intense version of the Kenpo you did in P90X

Upper Plus - Great workout, covers entire upper body, chest, back, biceps, shouders, tris

Total Body Plus - Just what it says

Abs/Core Plus - Very tough

Each month Tony has a new One on One workout. $20 each. I've picked up a few of them and mix them into my weekly routine. I don't like them as much as the P90X and P90X Plus routines but they're still good. It's just Tony working out by himself at home, talking to the camera guy (who himself is annoying). The one's I have so far:

Volume 1, Disk 1 - Plyo Legs - An alternative to the Plyo you get in the original program

Volume 1, Disk 4 - Just Arms - I like this one. Biceps, Forearms, Tri's. Over and over. Killer.

Volume 1, Disk 5 - 30/15 - Upper Body Massacre - 30 Pushups, 15 pullups, 12 rounds. Different kinds of pushups/pullups each time. Very tough.

Volume 1, Disk 10 - Medicine Ball Core Cardio - This is a short workout but a good one. It can be as tough as you want it to be depending on how heavy of a ball you use. Tony uses 6 pounds in the workout, I use 8.

Volume 1, Disk 12 - Diamond Delts - Shoulders and more shoulders

I don't have any of Volume 2 or Volume 3. Some of the Volume 3 workouts will be included in the new P90X MC2, coming out next fall.

Buddy of mine knows a lot about lifting and things of that nature... He gave me a few things to do for a good workout that I'm going to start to do tonight.

Let's just hope we both do not injure ourselves. :P

Don't eat beforehand and drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Eat well today, but not around 45 minutes or less before. Drink lots of water.

Pace yourself in the workout, the first two weeks are brutal. If you need to pause, pause and don't try to keep up with the guys on the video, they are freaks. Eat within an hour of the workout, high protein stuff.

My friend who is a hardcore workout freak (both cardio and lifting), recommended this shake for me post workout (obviously you can spend on the expensive shakes too):

Greek Yogurt (super high protein yogurt). I usually get vanilla.
Banana
Chocolate Milk
Ice

Blend that. I've liked it so far.

I've taken a two week hiatus due to being very sick, sucked because I was finally getting in a rhythm. I'm going to be a sore bastard again starting Wednesday.

Yeah a good recovery drink is important, especially on the strength days. The one posted above is good. Some people just drink chocolate milk. There are a ton of them you can find online. The P90X recovery drink isn't cheap (about $50 a month). I've tried it, it tastes good (orange) but there are cheaper alternatives.

My advice is don't overdo it. Don't use max weight right off.

And write down the weight/reps so you can remember next time. And slowly increase them. I always shoot for 8-10 reps at max weight. When I can do 10 easily I increase the weight next time. Some people go for 10-12 reps.
