Nice one Poldi... at least you showed them that you can count to three.

Podolski had the late equalizer, then put a hard tackle on Nuri Sahin and taunted him with the German 3:0 vs Turkey... Sahin turned around and scored the winner in extra time.

What can you say...

FCK loses again. That is not a new feeling :noway: :noway: :noway: Relegation zone, here we come. We suck, and on several levels.

The two players of this weekend are two almost forgotten players, the often benched Mario Gomez and the eternally injured Simon Rolfes. Gomez scored 3 goals :o and Rolfes ignited a Leverkusen rally which brought them from 0-2 to 3-2 in just 20 minutes 8-)

I wonder if he might ride the hot streak for a while or if van Gaal will bench him as soon as the regulars will be back from injury.

It's not really the regulars that are bothering Gomez, it's van Gaal's system. He refuses to play anything but his 4-2-3-1, even if he has not a single winger available right now. And Gomez just doesn't work in that system.

Bayern could play a deadly 4-2-2-2 with Klose and Gomez up front and Müller and Kroos behind them. As long as neither Robben nor Ribery aren't fit, that should be their system. But, for some reason, van Gaal plays only a single striker. Even if Gomez gets on the pitch, he's out of position. And it's not like Robbery ever provided any width for the Bayern offense. Both play inverted, so Klose/Gomez won't see any crosses anyway. 2-2-2 at least gives Lahm more room to go forward and get some deep crosses in.

Well, we play them in two weeks. With our luck, the Bayern surge will be in full effect by then...

@PF: Freiburg - Lautern next week. If we win, we're looking at a pretty comfortable situation. If we loose... well, scratch that. No losing allowed

Don't worry. There are two teams against which Lautern always sucks, namely Dortmund and Freiburg. *Jinx jinx* :D :-?

With Gomez, I totally agree. He is useless in a 1 striker system, but deadly in a 442 or 4222. Let's see how dogmatic van Gaal clings on to his 4231.

I think it's too easy to only blame van Gaal's system and not Gomez himself.

A great striker should be able to adapt to the system he's playing in.
I know for a striker it's easier when the defense has a 2nd guy they need to concentrate on but come on. That can not be the only reason for Gomez sucking that much until yesterday.

I can tell you why Gomez was successful in yesterdays game because the opponent had almost as much posession of the ball as Munich. As a striker you've got more room if the other team has a lot of posession. Gomez is good on the counter attack and you can count on him when he is given free space. Against Hannover Munich had like a season low in posession which is what gave Gomez more freedom (because opposing teams players won't come back to tracking him that fast when it's a counter attack). Munich has almost in every game like 60-70% posession. That sucks for a striker with Gomez abilities. Once all the starters come back for Munich Gomez will face the same problems again - unless he develops his game. He needs to be able to combinate with his teammates more on limited space. Right now, he's physically and mentally to slow to combinate with limited space and that's the main reason he sucks when van Gaal plays his ball dominant system. Not whether he has a 2nd striker or not. Gomez needs freedom but when 21 players are in one half of the pitch there's not much space. Then he often gets frustrated which hampers him even more from playing well.
Gomez would be good for Munich if they were consistently playing counterattacks but it happens only very few times per game because the opponents don't have the posession very often against Munich.

Looks like Mainz is back on track winning. I never really liked them but I've grown to like them and I certainly hope they can extend their hot streak as long as possible.

Stuttgart isn't last place any longer too, winning vs. St. Pauli.

I just realized that one of those 8 Bayern goals was the 1:2 vs Mainz, which was an owngoal. So it's actually 8-7 for Cisse.

...

still they'll win next weekend :(

Just started studying in Mainz. I plan to visit a Mainz 05 training in the next few days or weeks. Maybe I can call Louis van Gaal after that and tell him what he needs to change to score more goals.

I also think about joining their away game vs. St. Pauli. First game, then Reeperbahn. That would be a hell of a day. Too bad that game is scheduled on Saturday the 18th of december. It's going to be freakin cold by then.

That's awsome man, I wish I could watch a live Bundesliga game. How much do tickets go for? I bet Bayern one is pretty expensive.

Tickets are pretty cheap in the Bundesliga.

Stances right behind the goals cost 15€. Seats directly at the byline are 70€, everything else is somewhere inbetween.

Yeah, tickets are affordable. That's why the Bundesliga has great attendance unlike other leagues here in Europe.

**** if I lived in germany, I'd be attending games every week. Toronto FC's tickets are pretty expensive here, even though they wouldn't be a 3rd division team in Europe.

Bundesliga does have the best stadiums in Europe too I think, so prices being so low is a big surprise.

Hey,

though it's not official yet my soon-to-be girlfriend lives in Hamburg so unless I have to work we could have a beer or two.
