I have no problem with him trying to expand his range so long as he mixes in some dunks to make up for the long shots.
Come on, guys, 50% is fine.
You know I love Josh, but he did exhibit some bad shot selection in what I saw last night. The 3 pointer late was obviously bad, but earlier in the game he also took a long 2 early in the shot clock. That shot is available any time, in fact the defense is daring him to take it. To launch it early from there undermines the offense and is bad as Joe pounding the ball for 15 seconds trying to decide if he has an advantage. Josh might hit one of those occasionally, just like Joe may make the shot after dribbling that long, but it hurts the offense and might lead to someone else launching a shot out of the flow just to get theirs. If Josh takes an open jumper later in the clock because that is what the offense produced then fine, but to launch early or outside of the offensive scheme is selfish and counter-productive.
I looked at the shot chart and Josh was 4 of 5 in the paint and 1 of 5 from outside. The partially contested 3 at that point in the game was obviously an emotional attempt to make a big play, but in the regular season and post season I would hope that Josh keeps his head in the game enough to run the offense with trust that a higher percentage shot will become available.
