I thought Keller was down by contact on that play, but they were out of challenges and that first challenge Rex wasted was a stupid challenge so I feel no pity for them. I understand why he made the second challenge and why it couldn't be overturned but the first challenge was McCarthy-like.

until Mike McCarthy realizes his receiving corp is average, this team will contiue to struggle, the terrible play of the TE's is going to be a major story moving forward as well.

I agree that the receiving core minus Finley isn't as good as some media folks/announcers imply, but i would say they are a little above average, just not elite.

As for McCarthy, he doesn't exactly have much of choice but to be very pass heavy in his play calling. It's either rely heavily on Rodgers, Jennings, Driver if healthy, Jones, and Nelson or rely quite a bit more on Jackson and Kuhn. I'll grant that Jackson has a nice 4.5ypc average and there have been games like Washington especially where i felt that McCarthy should have used the run game more, but i seriously question if he tried running the ball significantly more that it would be really effective.

One reason i think Jackson has been able to average that 4.5ypc is that defenses are almost always playing pass. They are usually keeping both safeties back and more of a nickle look. Quite a few of Jackson's 10 plus yard runs came from a shotgun look by us/draw plays. It not all that often that we line up in the I-formation and can play effective power football. That's why when MM calls that formation and instead tries play action, defenses rarely bite on it.

Without both Finley and Grant, it's removed so much of what made the offense explosive. With Grant, defenses often enough would bite on play action. With Finley, he regularly drew the attention of a safety in the middle of the field because linebackers alone couldn't cover him. Now those safeties stay back to double our receivers and thus take away much of our deep passing game and last year we were a top team in pass plays over 20 yards.

Losing one of Grant or Finley would obviously have hurt, but losing both has been a brutal blow to the offense.

We beat the Eagles 6-3 at Lambeau in 2000 for the Sherminator's first win as our coach.

This was an amazing game by the whole defense.

Raji, Matthews and Williams are all great. Those guys should be the major pieces of this defense for another 5 or more years.

Peprah has been playing great (Do you still think him and Derrick Martin are the same guy, Luke? ), Woodson is starting to make some plays again, Collins is a Pro Bowl level player still... And the rest of our guys are doing our job.

Also, how the hell did the Jets let that NT that we picked up go? That dude is massive... He played very well and seems like he will always be a force in the running game.

Oh yeah... Desmond Bishop is a legit starter.

And the "horrible call" on Keller getting it taken away for an INT by Woodson.

With that call and the Tramon call, it occured to me that the NFL's rule regarding simultaneous catches (ie offensive player wins the "tie") completely contradicts its rule regarding completing the process of the catch.
