Yao and K-mart won't hold up the whole season, and the Rockets will be lucky to make it out of round 1.

This is a ridiculous thread topic - better question/discussion would be 'what team poses the greatest threat to LA.' Getting worked up by comments from JVG who, let's face it, has always had a thing for Phil and LA, is pointless.

Something of note, and I realize it's early in the season - but LA looks good. Really good. All of the talk/hype has been around Miami, but LA quietly got better, and not just slightly better. Blake, Barnes, and Ratliff replacing Farmar, Morrison, Mbenga is a huge upgrade both offensively and, more importantly, defensively.

They seem like they're in mid-season form already. Odom playing over the summer was huge as long as he doesn't run out of gas. They can go big, small, offensive lineup, defensive lineup, post, outside - they can match up with anything an opponent wants to throw their way. And they're winning games they normally lose. By that I mean - not taking the first half of the season to fokk around knowing they'll be in the playoffs. Historically they have a tendency to play down to their competition, at least early on. This year they seem committed to jumping on people early, often, and keeping the pedal down. It's almost as if they're sending a message - the road goes through LA. It goes through us.

JVG is just showing that he's loyal to the Rockets franchise.
A team which he coached and still roots for.

JVG, Jackson, and Breen are still a very entertaining broadcast team. lol

I can't stand Van Gundy for shamelessly fellating lebron james at any opportunity and trying ( but failing badly) to be funny every broadcast.

The whole Houston thing is him just showing love to the Rockets. I think after his time coaching there they have become his "favorite" team.

It's one guy's opinion. He could be right, it's probably wrong. No need to make more of it than it is.

Nah. Jeff meant it. The guy does things in the heat of the moment-->like how he grabbed Mourning's leg and got dragged around during a brawl. Often looks bad but never a joke.

Jeff Van Imp never got over loses to LA. It's the little man syndrome. The guy loses to LA even when he's no longer coaching. LOL.
