It spreads out the ball handling and shot creating duties across the whole team and forces the PG to play more off the ball.
That's not a big deal with some Points, but Rubio's a guy whose main contributions to a basketball team are is ball handling skills, court vision, and ability to distribute the basketball.
I'm sure Rubio can play in the Triangle offense, and he can probably even be effective, but if Rubio is going to be the center piece of the team, we should be using a system that allows him to maximize his strengths (like system Phoenix uses with Nash or the one that New Orleans uses with Paul).
[Edit:] I'm no expert on NBA offenses or the Triangle, but from what I understand, it's been so successful with the Lakers and the Bulls because it forces opposing defenses to guard the whole team instead of focusing in on one guy (Jordan and Kobe). For the Wolves and Rubio, though, we don't want the opposing team to focus on the whole team. We want the opposing team to lock in on Rubio so that he can use his amazing court vision and passing ability to get the ball to open teammates.
