How is Jerramy Stevens in the league still?(2game suspension

PewterReport.com is reporting that Buccaneers tight end Jerramy Stevens likely will be suspended for two games in the 2008 season. The suspension is a result of punishment for the same incident -- a DUI arrest and conviction -- that prompted the NFL to suspend Stevens for the Bucs' 2007 regular season game against the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 16.

Stevens likely will miss Tampa Bay's first two regular season games of the year, at New Orleans on Sept. 7, and the home opener against Atlanta on Sept. 14.

Stevens decided to serve the first game of the suspension last year. The NFL had handed down a longer suspension and Stevens chose to serve one game, and appeal the remaining games.

If youre not aware of all his incidents read this article
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... ns270.html

Sexually assaulted a girl and got away with it since he was important to the college football team, got away with leaving the scene of an accident, involved in another hit and run (in this one he slammed into a retirement home wall which caused a dresser to fall on a 92 year old woman who was sleeping, idno if she died, but it sounds like it), for that he got a suspended sentence on the condition he stayed out of trouble, got caught drunk driving twice, then two more times without a license, got another DUI (which should have violated his probation but no one "flagged the case")

The three drunk driving, and two other times he was caught driving without a license, all happened after he entered the NFL.

The guy even lies about having a college degree (when he was with the seahawks in the media guide).

Hes now been suspended for a total of 3 games throught his NFL career with the addition of these two.

Isnt it great how Goodell treats every player the same on suspensions?

That this Stevens issue(it is an issue), would not of been brought up if you didn't have the agenda of making Pacman, not look so bad. Because he is a Cowboy...

i dont see how him being a cowboy fan is any relevant. it is a wiretap story, it is not like he dug some obscure news story to bad mouth stevens.

Incorrect. It would have been brought up whether Pacman was a cowboy or not. Are you saying that I cant point out how much of a douche Stevens is? Or are you trying to defend him in some obscure way?

Well as I said, alot of those things happened after he joined the NFL. And I dont mean suspend him for things he did in college, but look at his history, he says the same crap after every incident about how he wont drink anymore, hes a new man, blah blah blah.

Also wanted to add this from the espn blog the other day

Clarification on Stevens' suspension

June 4, 2008 5:39 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

Just got a little bit of clarification on the suspension of Bucs tight end Jerramy Stevens for the first two games of this season. This suspension (issued by the league) will be for a DUI conviction that came after Stevens was arrested in 2007, a team official confirmed.

At the same time as that arrest, Stevens also was arrested for marijuana possession. Stevens' one-game suspension last season was a result of the marijuana possession charge, the team official said.

So this is now actually his second suspension, not first with the league? And hes been in their substance abuse program for quite awhile. Why is it only 2 games?
Dominic Rhodes got 4 games last year for DWI. Jared Allen got 4 (but for some reason got it appealed down to 2).

Something is messed up here, it seems the first time guys (Rhodes) get twice as many games as guys who have been busted more than a couple times (Allen and Stevens).

Goodells suspensions really dont make sense. I know each guy is an individual case, but at the same time, when all things are about equal then the punishment should be too.

Has nothing to do w/any Pacman agenda. Could easily be an Odell Thurman agenda, or anyone else... ridiculous comment to make.

It sucks that certain players are examples while certain ones fly under the radar... When someone has repeatedly shown they are not trying harder (Pacman, Odell) they should be given a year off to get their stuff together.

However, what it sounds like is they are bringing up an incident that happened in 2007, the last DUI case listed in the article. I dont think he should be ousted (yet) but at minimum a 4 game suspension for someone busted driving 2.5 x the legal alcohol limit seems reasonable... One more strike and he should get the Pacman treatment.
