One wonders this may be the reason he wants to leave Denver. Denver has always been close to the bottom when it comes to opponent PPG. This year they are giving up 104.5 per game. Who knows maybe his main goal is rather get rid of George Karl and his high scoring style and bring in a more defensive coach.
PPG is not the way to tell how good a team is defensively. In fact that is probably the worst way because it does not take into account pace, which the Nuggets are usually in the top 5 in the league every year. you want to tell how a team is defensively look at their shooting percentage allowed and point differential. I have not looked into it this year, but the Nuggets are usually top 10 every year. This year may be different a little due to not having 2 of their top 3 bigs, starting Sheldon Williams, and allowing Melvin Ely to play meaningful minutes.
