One wonders this may be the reason he wants to leave Denver. Denver has always been close to the bottom when it comes to opponent PPG. This year they are giving up 104.5 per game. Who knows maybe his main goal is rather get rid of George Karl and his high scoring style and bring in a more defensive coach.

PPG is not the way to tell how good a team is defensively. In fact that is probably the worst way because it does not take into account pace, which the Nuggets are usually in the top 5 in the league every year. you want to tell how a team is defensively look at their shooting percentage allowed and point differential. I have not looked into it this year, but the Nuggets are usually top 10 every year. This year may be different a little due to not having 2 of their top 3 bigs, starting Sheldon Williams, and allowing Melvin Ely to play meaningful minutes.

There's strong rumblings that Anthony's new wife, La La Vasquez, a Brooklyn native, is more into the Knicks than Anthony, who told The Post's Peter Vecsey winning a title is more important than locale.

"That's a big thing," Anthony said. "I want to make my family happy. I want them to be comfortable, whether it's here or somewhere else. If your household ain't right, nothing is."

So why don't we use pace when we assess the Knicks? It doesn't look we are far behind Denver when we adjust for pace.

http://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/de ... efficiency

Number 16 on this list and not that far from number 11 (Denver).

I don't know why you don't you those numbers, it is really the best way to tell how good your defense is without spending a ton of time figuring out some of the more advanced defensive stats. As for the difference in numbers between the Nuggets and Knicks, it does not surprise me that they are only a few slots different then the Nuggets, but you have to remember the Knicks have been basically healthy and are still slightly below average, while the Nuggets will not have their bigs back for awhile yet, and are still slightly above average.

with the status quo, hes not coming here

you can take that to the bank, book it, sig it, whatever

this team is going to need to get another headcoach, another player (like a #3), and only then will this team look attractive to him

As long as the Knicks is in NY, Melo will sign here. Book it, sig it, take it to the bank. Nuff said. Powned. etc. etc.

Knicks' luck is now that they'd have to give up Landry to get Melo this season.

Who would have thought Fields would be our "asset?"

And I wonder if that was going through his mind at all while he was having his monster game last night.

I feel a lot better about our chances of getting Carmelo.

"I want to make my family comfortable, whether it's here or somewhere else. If your household ain't right, then ain't nothing right."

And it is well documented that LaLa wants Carmelo to join the Knicks.

It also helps that Bernard King wants Melo to join the Knicks and continue his legacy

But he could address this by going to the Nets.

Pretty crazy that after the Summer of LeBron, our most impressive asset is a second-round pick. But he's deserving. Guy is not a 2nd round pick in quality.

How would his wife be happy if he joins the Nets? She said in a interview on Hot 97 that she wants him a Knick. She didn't say Knicks or Nets.

He's only going to walk away for a 65mil offer to freaking play exactly, precisely, totally and most definitely where HE WANTS TO PLAY, (see Knicks). No Amare, no Melo. No one can convince me that D. Walsh didn't know this from the time Lebra made his decision. Carmelo is determined to take his talents to MSG. If that were not the case, he would have already been traded.

I agree. If he wanted to be a Net, he would have been one already.

I hope you're right. I'm not convinced that he'll say no to NJ but if he does go there, eh. He is not lebron. The guy is good but he's not a true superstar. We'd be looking at another Amar'e. We need some guards to make this work.

I thought the Nets had a deal in place to get Melo at the beginning of the season but it didnt fall through because Melo didnt waive his no trade clause?
