He said he'd let Lawrie's play and abilities dictate his position - but he did mention 3rd Base kind of conspicuously...

I'm looking forward to hearing AA's take on it.

Looks like he might spend another year in the minors. AA said that he doesn't like rushing prospects

Honestly I think what it comes down to is that with the combination of Wells and the Yanks/Red Sox, we need as much production on pennies as possible. Lawrie might not ever be as good as Marcum, but the reward in this case is good production on a tiny payday, compared to Marcum's good production on a good payday after his FA which doesn't help us as much next to the Yanks and Sox. And that's not considering his injury issues

If it's just to get prospects, it's indicative of a salary dump and the cheapness of Rogers Communications.

So yeah, not a big fan of this right now.

Salary dump?

Marcum made less than a million last season

This deal is all about getting a young, talented Canadian infielder into the system

To extend Marcum through his two remaining arbitration and a few free agent years would have cost quite a bit, actually. And apparently the Jays weren't willing to spend the money.

I have no reason not to believe Beeston.

But do you have a reason to believe him?

do you have a reason to vehemently not believe him?

All of his comments and remarks to the media and fans over the last two years have had a tendency not to come true. That would be my reason.

So i've been reading a bunch of pages and haven't seen anyone mention this, say he does stay at 2B or even moves to 3rd what do the Jays do with Hech. Hill would still b at 2nd with Hech behind. We now have have a little bit of a log jam any suggestions???

Hech and Lawrie aren't close enough to the majors to worry about this. And Lawrie may not even be an infielder.

The thing is if he does stay at an infield position there going to be up in the majors at right around the same time and with HIll and Escobar do we move Hill and have it Hech 2b Escobar SS and Lawrie 3b, i don't mind that and we should be able to fetch a descent return for HIll

If there's anything you should learn from the Marcum-Lawrie trade, it's that no one is untouchable, and anything can happen in terms of player movement. Thus, you should not assume Hill, Escobar, heck, even Hech, will be even fighting for positions, as anyone can be moved.

Well if I had to guess I would say that Hill will be traded when his value is back up, if Lawrie and Hech both live up to their respective potentials, and Esco hits more like the Esco of 2009 which I believe he should.

Plan A
Escobar-2B-Bats 2nd
Hech-SS-Bats 8th
Lawrie-3B-Bats 7th

Plan B (Lawrie can't play 3rd)
Escobar-3B-Bats 2nd
Hech-SS-Bats 8th
Lawrie-2B-Bats 7th

If Lawrie has to move to the OF then were back to square 1

selling an overachiever at peak value and being lucky enough to find another gm desperate to make a win-now move is about as perfect as it gets. If lawrie's prospect rating is the problem it probably just means they're wrong, and actual professionals have a higher grade on him

either way I like it because he's canadian. Although that picture of him sort of ruins it

also what is an inverted w and why don't they just call it an m

Shes an athlete too (from Vancouver.) She is one of the best under 20 soccer players in the world. Lawrie seems like a typical jock.

So if we redo our 2013 starting line-up would look something like

Gose-CF
Escobar-2B
Snider-LF
Wells-RF
Lind-DH
JPA-1B
Lawrie-3B
D'Arnaud-C
Hech-SS

SP
Morrow
Romero
Dabek
Cecil
Zep

Closer
Stewart

Not a bad line-up at all if everyone pans out, could also trade JPA for a 1st basemen or sign one in FA, if Wells is gone by then sub in Thames or Moises Sierra, or Jake Maresnik into that last OF spot.

I think we should take names of the bunch of us who started this Blue Jays forum. Just so we can all pat each other on the back when the Jays are successful and this board is crazy active.
